Is there anything I need to be aware of like special order or any tips and tricks? I like to bleed my brakes old school (one person pumps the pedal while the other works the bleeder valve) instead of using speed bleeders as I get better results generally, but still wanted to double check with you guys.

I know on my old VW we were supposed to start with the calipers furthest from the MBC and then move to the closest, then to the furthest, then to the last one.

For the record i did do a search but didn't find anything specific to the G..

No special tricks... just as you stated, start with caliper furthest away and work in from there. Just make sure to keep the master cylinder full.

Go from RR, to LR, to RF, to LF, and before you start, make sure the reservoir is full. Spray down the bleeder valve with penetrating oil so they don't break off if they are rusty.

You may want to check with your particular FSM. The one for my '05 Sedan states Right Rear -> Left Front -> Left Rear -> Right Front.
