Meh. Next week or so I'm actually going to start a serious thread on the Carputer Build & Testing. Well as soon as there is a computer siting in my car running off the battery at the least.

But, ya found out all my computer problems came mostly from a dieing PSU but thats not hard to fix just cost $$$. I need at least a 650 watt maybe even a 800 or more for future expansion. Not really worried about it just not something I wanted to buy right now.

Good news is I have a crap load of parts, a three day weekend coming up next week (starting tuesday), and I'm out of school, so I should be able to actually get something done

This thread is going to be the B.S. thread for the new thread I'm going to make. Because it's mostly full of it, and I'm also going to try to make a list or table of contents for the thread on the OP, that links to the non-BS content.

Well... I guess i do now that I'm out of school. But, that's just stuff I feel I need to do. This thread is a pain to read through and I can work on it a little at a time.

As I type this Im in the front seat of my car... Not using a laptop, but a desk top... and yes its cramped as hell. I had a problem with my DC to AC power converter, it had problems with my desk top but the monitor worked well so, all i need to do now is hook up the 180 watt 12v comp. PSU that I bought from One Puff.

P.S. Brizanden, I took pics at dads last week, just need to up load them.P.P.S. CRAMPED!!!!!

LOL, i've hauled my desktop (HUGE F'ing case) and my monitor (26" HDTV) around before, but would never dream of using my current setup IN the car. lol But now a little shuttle case would fit perfectly in the trunk and could be hooked up to an in-dash touch screen... hmmmm

YaI was goingt ot do some thing like that, but I'm having weired Idle problems and I just wanted a damn computer in here already. I'm actually trying to register the software wile im still in the car... My neck hurts... finally got the computer to hook up to my ECu and the soft ware us unregistered, so all I could get was a tack and a speedometer.

I normally use my 47 in. 1080p, as my monitor but sadly it won't fit in here I guess this 19 in. CRT will do. CRAMPED!!!

Touch Screen = Expensive.CRT = FreeI'm actually considering mounting a Touch screen or trackball/touch pad in the steering wheel, but whether I do or not I do not know. You see I'm lazy, and where I mount the screen and where I mount the mouse don't matter, what does matter however is where i mount the carputer... I want it where the radio should go.

In truth sitting there in my car using my computer really made me think about where to place things like mouse and keyboard. I actually was thinking that the keyboard would go good in the steering wheel. Never happen, but it would be nice.

And here's three of them together.

And just to show that I'm not slacking off on my carputer duties... PICS!!!

Win 2003 in my car Woot!

Datascan was unregistered so this is all I could do However It's registered now.

Went and got my wireless card so I could try and register but had problems with Datascan registration.

I love that thing. It has a button on it that automatically connects to the nearest open network.

Ya I got it the next day it was my hotmail e-mail not my gmail.I got a HP Pavilion slimline case from work, it was a display and we were going to trash compact it so I asked and they let me have it and 2 other normal cases for $2 donation each. I'm trying to figure out where I need to mount the 12v power supply.

You really need to get a touchscreen. It fits so perfectly in the center console. Check out the classifieds on mp3car.com. Do some searching on the forums too. You should be able to find a decent one for around $200. I know you want to mount the computer in the dash but mounting it in the trunk makes it so much easier to work on and/or remove if you need to. Getting everything setup and working properly is a process, especially the first time around.

Ya I plan on it.Just wondering is that the Lilliput 2 din kit you got in your dash? I was thinking going that route, or the one din flip out monitor, expensive though.

I want a computer in there first, after that I'll worry about putting it in the dash. Behind the passenger seat will work fine for now.

Yea it's the 7" 2 din monitor. Just had to make a little surround piece to fill in the gaps in the opening.
