I'm about to purchase a SR20 motor and was wondering what some of you guys would recommend between the blacktop and redtop? and why... also, how many pounds of boost does a stock SR20 run? Any info would be awesome. Thanks

please check the sticky (FAQ) before posting stuff like that.

I like seeing technical questions on RWD-SR forum... I dont want this forum to turn into anoter 240/silvia forum.

Black top if you can afford it, less miles better chance of it being in good shape.

Stock boost is 8psi.

WRONG! Stock boost is 7 psi on an s13 black and redtop. 8 psi on an s14 notchtop(not blacktop they are all black). Read the stickys and SEARCH

Get a blacktop if you can afford it (newer motor = less miles and abuse, hopefully. Also has newer head casting and a nicer oil pickup design)

If not, buy a redtop and put in a blacktop oil pickup. The casting differences between the black and redtops are not drastic enough to cause power differences.
