The blacktop s13 head is going to breathe just a little better, but I dont think its going to really be that big of deal, you may find a few more horses through a port and polish and a little more torque, but nothing significant.

Ive only used blacktops because they have all been newer and had lower miles than the reds, IF I found a blacktop head for a little more I would buy but it is personal preference over any true performance gains.

Get a blacktop and paint half red. That'd confuse em.

I suggest that if you have a s13 then get a red top, if a s14 then black top due to the intake manifolds being diferent and trottle body's also sit on diferent angles, it think it would cause some problems when it comes to intercooler pipings........my two cents..

s13 red or black tops are the same. I've owned both and still own both. No difference. Just the grooves up on the front of the head on the blacktops. Although that's nice to have, it really doesn't do squat for the rest of the head as long as you've got a decent cooling system. Now if you're talkin s13 sr to s14/s15 that's where differences come in. However, don't let that bs fly around about s13 blacktops being better than s13 redtops.

wrong...the heads are ported just a little different. they are interchangable, but the amount of work and all you have to do to realize the difference makes it not worth it. You really would see the difference on two identically modified SRs and a dyno. you would see the turbo would spool a hair faster and the more you modify the two different heads the more you will notice the differences in air flow. that is why they cast the lines in the head, because they were designed a little differently, check two stock dyno sheets with identical mods and tuning. blacktop heads always have a hair sharper curve and if when both cars are in the 350 + range you will notice that the blacktop will put out a little more torque and the curve is a hair different. again the gains aint worth the work

If you are talking about the redtop with the lines cast in the front then that head is going to be exactly the same as the blacktop. they made a later redtop that shared this head with the blacktop, but most of the redtops that you will see with blacktop like heads were swapped in japan or they are blacktops that were painted red. You can use either one.

350 w/cams 300 w/out. I also have a built block with 87mm bore all forged. I will take 1300 for the pair, just add headgasket and your good to go. For another hundred I'll throw in both manifold also. Just no fuel system.

Best bet would be to get a service manual. You have to remove bolts in certain orders and stages. They are ones on ebay for cheap. I got mine from there.

hell, just dl one for free.

its really easy though. jsut pop out the cams and use a hex bit to take the bolts out. just remember to label everyhting and keep it in order.
