I hope that everyone on the east coast is ok.It is amazing to me that something like this could happen without sabatoge (currently they say no terorism is involved). What a horrible design that so many major cities are on one power grid.I remember watching "The Trigger Effect" a few years back, the documentary, not the '96 movie with hottie Elizibeth Shue. It is basically a prediction of this exact happening, highlighting that it only takes the failure of one small relay to result in thousands without power. Is any one here directly effected by the outage? What happened to you?

Black out here in the west coast also. My toaster doesn't work. I currently have an army of rats running through a wheel in order to generate enough power to make this post.

my power came back on about 1/2 an hour ago. I jus went outside and worked on my car, so I wasn't bad.

It happened before at '77. It happened now. And it will definitely happen in the future. Good thing about this one compared to the 77 is this happened during the day. The one at 77 was at night and stores got looted bad. Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer plugs in the dancing Santa and the whole town goes down.
