So lucky me got 2 fix it tickets. 1 for blacked out tail lights. The other was for the 20% tint on my front 2 windows honestly i understand the tail lights but come on i've seen facotry tints come out at 20%

But the other problem is what should i do with my tail lights. I got them done by this guy who paints em and he did an incredible job but do you think i should just pick up another set from the dealership???

Any suggestions

If they are painted then the easiest thing is to get another set.

if you removed then and used paint thinner, would that do any damage to the lens?

paint thinner doesn't damage plastic

California law states that the front 2 windows cannot be any more than 70% unless medically waived because of eye problems and such.

how dark were your tail lights? your cheapest option is to go borrow somebody else's tail lights to show them that you removed them

go with johnnyd brainstorm...borrow a set...those freakin things cost 350-400 a piece! and theres no way to remove the paint with out damaging your lens...paint thinner will over time!..it will chemically bond with the polymers in the lens and make it brittle...first cold season you have they will spider crack then eventually crack all together.....borrow a set show show em and return em...see the removal thread...it take literally 10 min to remove each lamp....just dont drop em!

There are no manufacturers that tint the front windows anywhere near 20%. Probably more like 95%. Even the back windows of SUVs - I don't think are 20%.

But either way - it's good that you posted this -so that folks do know - there is a chance they can get pulled over for these mods.

Please post of picture of your taillights - so that folks can see.

Also - yeah you can do the "get-over" and borrow taillights (not sure from whom) - but what happens if you get pulled over again. What proof do you need to provide - just a picture, or will you need to provide a receipt? You should find this out before you make a move.

It hurts my eyes to look at my car unless the windows are blacked out...Does that count???

Seriously though Irvine cops are the worst. My suggestion, keep those tickets in your glovebox and roll around for another three months and enjoy it while you can. You can not get another fix it ticket for the same voilation while you have one pending.

Another thing to consider is that two tickets for window tint equals a point on your record now...I'm not sure how long you have to go without another violation but they are really cracking down on window tint.

I have always had limo tint on my vehicles and I live in Irvine...The toughest city in California when it comes to vehicle modification. I have been pulled over for it twice. The second time was two weeks after the first time so the cop couldn't get me for it...So he went crazy and got me for everything else hahaha.

I have 5% on my new truck and LOVE IT. I have my windows up all the time except at night time when I'm trying to reverse...Can't see anything in my rearview hahaha.

Haha sorry to hear that. I saw your car thread first, and my first thought was "damn that's dark, how hasn't he been pulled over yet?"

I've already been stopped for having 35% tint twice. Bunch of nazis. I actually got my front tint removed today. It blows but I'm honestly tired of getting stopped for it.
