OK NICO so I recently decided to remove the black trim/tape that goes on the exterior of the car. Unfortunately after I finished half of the vehicle I noticed the PO decided they liked the black trim look on the passenger door so they repainted it black. (I know i should have checked for something like this seeing as that side of the car was involved in an accident) Now I have most of the car without the black trim except for the passenger door. Now my question is would there be any possible way to just remove the black paint (There are a few small chips already and i can see the OEM paint under) or should i just buy another door? Maybe i should just repaint it like the PO? I like the clean look without the trim, but having the driver and passenger side look different is a big NO NO. Thanks for reading any input would be greatly appreciated.

get paint the same color as your car and make the black go away like magic.

if its just spray paint over the oem paint it would more than likely just buff right off.

Ughh why didnt i think of that. I know duplicolor makes an Aztec red, but its hard for me to get them around here seeing as i tried before. Would you happen to know if any other spray paint color would match? I searched and only thing i can find is duplicolor

I dont think it is just spray paint its more sort of like a dark grayish color with gray flakes/glitter in it. I guess they tried to match the faded tape. I can take a pic if you want but my cam is dead and I'm not too sure if it will show up on my cell phone.

EDIT:I would really rather buff it off than paint it tho if its possible

buffing at a low speed with some good polishing compound will more than likely remove it. if the po just sprayed over the oem paint its pretty much just stain on the clearcoat..
its amazing what buffing can do. ive taken graffiti off white tour busses with a random foam pad and some turtle wax compound.
try it before you go spraying more spraypaint on it.
post pics if you can.

i painted my bumper with just rustoleum from home depot and it came out suprisingly nice... i suggest you take a paint sample from an inconspicuous area and go up there and hold it up to the rattle can lids, even if its not perfectly it, it wont be that noticeable. just mask it off and go! :yesnod

edit: or do as bersh says, polishing compound might be abrasive enough to remove it

Sounds good thanks for the tips guys really appreciate it. I might take sickbois route seeing as i need to do the same for my bumper. Even tho id rather not put more paint over it i would have to borrow my friends buffer. I'll see what happens after i finish the bumpers and give my friend a call to see if hes available.

So I finished stripping the bumper and deciding I should just try and strip the paint with the Goof Off I already had. It came out easier than i expected.

Wow, somebody did an awful job of prepwork prior to painting that, as in NOT :tisk: ... hey, lucky for you though; looks great! :dblthumb: And, in that second pic, I thought for a split instant that you put a hole in the door! "Jeez man!", I thought ....... then I scrolled down. :lolling:
