black top won't rev past 4k

I just installed a 95 s13 blacktop into a 97 240sx. the sr was a automatic at one time. it is not starting very easily and wants to die after starting untill it warms up. after it warms up it will idle fine but i have to set the idle at 1500rpms. it also won't rev past 4k and when about half to full throttle it wants to sputter but at partial throttle it will rev smoother. we have checked for boost leaks and could not find one. the maf is ok we tried one that was working from another sr. i believe the timing is ok. the other day while working on it i could rev past 4k while in nuetral but not if i put it in gear even with the clutch disengaged. we checked the bov and it seems to be working fine. i replaced the spark plugs but nothing changed. we know we are getting fuel and spark.
