Just bought a 2008 G37 sport and when we brought it home I thought there was some brake dust on a few of the wheels. I tried to wipe it off with a rag and a little spit,...nothing. I thought oh boy here we go. I pulled out a bottle off wheel cleaner just to flatter myself and just as I thought nothing happening, stains stayed. It looks like someone sprayed oil on the wheel, let it run and then applyed a clear coat over the wheel. It appears on several spokes on one wheel and a couple on the other two wheels. One wheel looks just like new. Has anyone encountered this problem. I actually drove it back to the dealer and of course they've never seen it before. Service manager was gone for the day. I have to bring it by tomorrow to have them take a look. Hopefully they honor the problem and do me right.

Hey, Welcome to Nico!

What is the surface of your wheels? I'm a wheel dealer and have cleaned thousands of crusty wheels. I'm pretty sure I can tell you what to use if you can tell me what kind of wheel it is.

Thanks for the reply by the way. They are stock 19" wheels on the new Infinity G37 Sport. The dealer said they have a painted surface in a brief discussion. Sorry I don't know much about them yet.

Some pictures would be very helpful.

Judging from what you are telling me think "Mothers Polish" and some elbow grease is what you need. If that doesn't work try some "CLR" (Calcium Lime Rust) AKA Lime Away; take it easy on the CLR so you don't damage your wheel.

Try that then report back .

ok,..tried the mothers. I use to have a harley and it took the blue right off the pipes, but not these wheels. I was afraid to mess around to much. I don't won't the dealer to blame me for using the wrong chemical before they fix the problem. Maybe I'll wait and see what happens tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again.

My 04 G35 has the same issue. I'm just going to get the wheels redone. We have a mobile wheel repair that comes to the dealer I work at. Going to cost me $75 a wheel to have them repainted.

The guy told me he sees that a lot on the Hyper Silver wheels. They have a black base w. a silver top coat that is very thin. And if the silver does not have good coverage the black will start to show through.

I would take it back to the dealer if this is a new car. I have seen several like this at our local dealership. I was quite disturbed to see brand new cars sitting on a lot with jacked up wheels. Someone put a chemical on them to clean up the wheels and left it on too long before washing it off. I would not use any more products, let them see the wheels the way you found them. Simply tell them you tried washing the car when you got home and the stains would not come off. If they asked what you used, tell them zaino car wash.

I used Greased Lightning and a brush to get the junk off my mom's infiniti - worked like a charm!

That's exactly what it was. We took it in to the dealer this morning and they to have a mobile wheel guy that's going to re-paint them for us. I don't think we have to pay hopefully. I'm not going to if they ask. You don't pay all that cash for a new car and have the wheels jacked up.

We took it to the dealer and they have a mobile wheel guy that's going to re-paint them. I couldn't handle the black stains at all. It drives me crazy. I mean come on,...you're looking at this sweet car and then you get closer and see that !! Ruins it for me !!

Okay, I didn't know they were that style of wheel. . . they have almost like a nickel colored finish. They look real sharp when they are new.

I have some G35 wheels that are doing the same thing.

Yeah,...they are really nice. We called the wheel guy today to see when he would be at the dealership next and he said he was there today to bring the car down. Needless to say the dealership never called. Anyway,...the wife left work only to get there and find out he didn't even have the right color paint for the wheels. Real nice !! Have to wait til Tuesday now. Also the dealer, us and the wheel guy have 3 different ideas in our minds as of how many wheels need to be repainted. . Trust me,...I'll be there first thing Tuesday to work it out in our favor. Things like that drive me insane.

The wheel guy here, breaks the outerbead. Then pressed the tire down. Then he repairs any damage, scuffs the entire painted surface, and repaints the wheel. After the paint drys he rebeads the wheel, airs it up, and puts the wheel back on the car. No need to rebalance the whee, b/c only 1 bead was broken and the tire does not get turned on the wheel.

If that is the way he does it, you will be happy w/ the outcome. I know I was w/ mine.

Yeah,...can't wait to see how it turns out. The one wheel that isn't bleeding through black streaks looks really clean. I tell ya, we really like the car a lot. It's hard to take your eyes off it. I tried to load a picture, but when I click on the insert image it puts IMG in this box and never gives me the option to grab a pic from my files.
