Also, it takes 2 or 3 tryz to get it started in the morning. pumping the gas pedal helps start the motor. when it doesnt start after an attempt, all i hear is somting turning (weird noise) though..,after the motor starts it idles at 1,500 rpms and takes like 5 minutes to warm up. after itz warmed up, the motor starts to idle at about 900 rpms. Also, my exhaust manifold gasket is broken, is this kausing any power loss or damage?

are you running a test pipe ??? if you are, there is going to be black smoke when you boost. obviously the catlyctic converter cleans up the exhaust and if you dont have one ....its going to be black smoke. even with a high flow cat there is still some black smoke that comes out. its typical for engines to idle high when you just start it up, and then idle lower when it gets warmed up. my SR does the same thing. except mine starts up on one try. it idles at about 1500 rpms for a couple minutes but once it warms up, it idles around 850 to 900 rpms. dont worry, its typical. the deal with the exhaust manifold gasket, if you can hear exhaust leaking out of where the manifold contacts the gasket and block, then you will lose some power. if you are certain that it is your exhaust manifold gasket that is broken, i would suggest replacing it. hope this helps. good luck.

black smoke is fuel--too much most of the time. Its burned fuel at least. Meaning you are still igniting the fuel, its just too much in the Comb chamber. White fuel is commonly mistaken for oil, but can be raw unburnt feul--asl ong as that istn the case, then youre good. Black smoke is burnt rich fuel. You running an open BOV?

also--that turning noise is probably your fuel pump continueing to prime--it shouldnt be making too much noise other than the beginning "whir" when turning the key to ACC. Is it probable that your fel pump may be stick at wide open pumping to much feul to the rai and causign you to run rich?
