The oil light concerns me. It is triggered only by a pressure sensor and if inadequate pressure is present, the light comes on. Like when you first start it up it takes a second for oil pressure to come up. I would be more worried about that than anything with black smoke. Could be that your oil pump is failing or the oil pump drive is rounded off. What motor do you have specifically?

I don't really know what could be causing black smoke. It's either a lot of fuel or oil. Did it make any noise or anything obviously bad like that?

ok - rb20det is what i have--- no weird noise ---kinda rev bounce due to vacuum leak-- oil like - came on when i changed my oil -- might be oil pump-- car was driving fine - vacuum leak got bad and it started to die - - then wouldnt start- -- nobody has rb20det intake gaskets without buying hole kit - and smoke is kinda black grey -- says grey could be coolient- or blown headgasket?
