Hi Members,
I'm new to this site. I purchased a clean low milage 2011-M37 last month. I love the car but I found something very peculiar on the back of the front seat railing on the passenger side. As you can see from the picture I posted, the end of the right railing has a black plastic cap obviously for aesthetic purposes to cover up the end of the rail.
Now take a look at the left rail, it doesn't have a cap to cover the end of the left rail on the passenger seat.
The drivers side had the plastic caps on both sides. Only the left rail on the passenger seat doesn't have one. I assumed it had broken off so I took the picture and brought it to my local Infiniti dealer to order the piece. I was surpised to find out the car wasn't designed to have the black cap on the end of the left rail on the passenger seat! The dealer stated (as odd as it seems) it's not supposed to have one!
It really looks like it's missing something and my dealer agrees that it looks bad! My dealer is going to order the cap for the inside railing for the drivers side rail and we're thinking it should fit the inner railing on the passenger side.
Can any 2011 M37 owners out there tell me if that cap is missing as seen in the picture on their M37...

In the FSM, it looks like it IS supposed to have one.

For whatever reason All-data is being a pain, but it looks like the part number is either 87507-1MA0B, 87507-1MA0A. But that is hard to say as I seriously have like 20 "covers" listed on the seat for the M37...

Dont take the dealerships word as righteous... Sometimes they are dead wrong.

Thanks for your response. The dealer stated that is seemed very odd so they checked a few other M37's they had at the dealership and found that inside railing on the passenger side was void of the cap. They claim they went on to call their contact at Infiniti and were told it's not supposed to have a cap (the inside rail on the passneger seat). As I said above the parts manager ordered the cap for the inside rail of the drivers side seat in hopes it'll fit on the other side. The whole thing seems odd to me and I just want to get a look at another M37 and see if it's missing or not.
I'm going to hold on to the seat schematic you sent me in case I need it in the future.
Thanks again for your help...

No worries Al... if you go to the index of the link I sent ya, it is the entire FSM for your car... It is a trove of information... Enjoy the M and welcome to the community.

I think it is off that it doesnt have a cap... typically on infinitis they put caps on everything where grease goes...
