A guy at work and I both have Altimas, his being a Sedan. We both have them in Black and were wondering the following:

1. Why does it scratch so easy? (our door handles and various other places on the car look like we have wolverine-like hands)
2. What's the best way to fix everything. I've heard of a Black Wax you can get. Any recommendations?

I have the following:

1. A power buffer.
2. Meguires clay bars.
3. Time and money. :P

I found this write up that may answer on my own questions, just want opinions of others. Is it worth it to get a detailing show to do it to save cash on supplies?

Takes couple of hours. Reviews say that it produces excellent results.

For us Canadians, didn't find it in local stores but it can be ordered online from
Grainger.com / Amazon.com / WaxDepot.com

Recent unbiased consumer reviews Ive read agree the product is unworthy of the time and effort involved; The only benefit I see (if you wanna call it that) is the black product fills rock chips that would otherwise be white with typical waxes...

Im guessing there's no better results than I get with a leisurely claybar session, and Meguiar's 3 step process followed by a good coat of NXT Tech Wax.

1) Maybe you are both wolverines?
2) Cleaning and waxing all the time... if you get the paint scratched up you can either buff it (if it is light), fill it yourself or have it painted. Big areas may need to be done professionally to be blended so that you can't see it.

Black on any car (or boat for that matter... learned from experience) will show every scratch, blemish and dirt in general. It is the price to pay for something that looks so good when it is cleaned and waxed.

yes yes yes, mequires all the way!
i bought all 5 materials, waxes, detailers, compound etc..
i didn't do the wax because it was really hot out and the sun kept drying it too fast, so what i did instead is i washed it, then i just added the quick wax liquid spray and the car looks great! looks like a f*** mirror, it has been 3 days and it still shines something fierce :mike :mike :mike :mike

Used to have a black 2008 Kawasaki ZZR600 in black...my goodness after a wash and wax did she look good, but take her 20 miles down the road and its like I never even attempted to clean it! Black IMO looks the best when clean, but s***, to keep it clean!
