You've been on this forum long enough that you have to be smarter than this... On average, most dealers only sell the red top for $100 less than a blacktop. They're basically the same motor as a redtop,(only difference being the valve cover color) so guess what... ALL THE SAME PARTS FIT. Blacktops, in theory, should have less miles considering they're from 94-98 180s.

well i have been doin my research and every thing i read tells me to go black top. cause they r newer motors and have less miles they are basicly the same as a red top with a slight diffrences in the ecu. and i also i read that i want to find one with heat fins cause they disipate heat better. this just what im gathering so if im wrong please correct me like i said im new to the nissan tech stuff. i just recently within the past week made my decison to do a 240 and get out of my vw's. cant go sideways in a vw and i wanna find a new thrill

There is a pretty big debate on wether or not the fins are actually for heat dissipation or if they're just design.. Either way, everything else you stated is true. There's also a small chance you could get the limited edition engine if u get the blacktop.

This is kinda true..the only reason people ask for blacktops is because of lower miles.. As for the "heat sinks" Ive seen redtops with the same style. Pulled right out of a 180sx. Lower miles is nice but keep in mind its also how the motor was treated during those miles.. I had a blacktop that I was told had around 40-60k on it and the motor looked clean as hell.. but only lasted awhole season of racing and finaly spun a bearing after 5k.

I have 93 coupe with semi built sr yeah.

all SR's drop right into S chassis.. its the wiring that is the most important.

If you get a redtop or blacktop the only things that would make it different to install is the power steering, Gauge Cluster out of 91-94. If you want to have power steering you will need the DOHC power steering lines out of a 91-94

But other then that its the usual steps to convert the sr to work with USDM chassis
