Ok rebuilt my motor, new pistons/rings, end-play shims, new crank bearings, etc. Running good, stock ecu, stock t25 turbo, S13 Black-Top... Rings should have seated by now, its been my daily driver been driving it for two months solid. Have changed the oil religiously at least 4 times in two months and every time the oil it BLACK black as black can get! And it does seem to burn oil cause its always low when I check it, and the turbo is good was checked during rebuild and its within specs. Another vexing issue is the damn motor sounds smiler to diesel @ idle... wtf is up with that? and you can really only hear it from under the car, in drive thru's and such and its a low port s13 so it doesn't have VVT...

HELP! HELP! I HAVE SEARCH AND SEARCH AND SEARCH FOR ANSWERS AND NOTHING....
Nico forums are always my last resort because that just the way it should be!!! All the obvious things have been covered.... :gotme

Don't mean to threat jack here, but what does that mean when your oil is black and smells of fuel? Leaky injectors? I drove my SR maybe 2 miles, and let it idle for a total of an hour and my oil was BLACK and smelled horribly of fuel.

I think that it indicates you car is running way rich due to a bad sensor somewhere or you have leaky injectors.

I was going to say leaky injectors, too, because I have been having a similar problem with my truck. My hypothesis is that every time I shut down my engine the residual pressure in the fuel system leaks past the injectors, down an open intake valve and past the rings. The more short trips made, and the more times the engine is repeatedly turned on and off, the more it happens.

Lately I have been pullng the fuel pump fuse and letting the motor die, then I will floor the gas and turn the engine over a few times to relieve more pressure. I do this every single time I shut it down. It has been helping, too; it got to the point where the oil was getting black after 750 miles, and now it is not totally black even after almost 3000 miles now that I have been doing my "shutdown ritual." Note that the injectors are still operating just fine while running.

I can't stand seeing oil that black and having that damned gas smell, I just know it isn't good for anything and it is not normal. My Mom's BF tells me just to let it go, but that is not acceptable to me at all--no freaking way, man. I have heard about people spinnng rod bearings on trucks like mine, and who knows, maybe they just "let it all go."

I guess you could pull the fuel rail, and turn the ignition to the "on" position (without trying to start it) and see if the injectors leak.

I know a lot of people that do that with their FC RX7s. It works like a champ. Fuel in the oil dilutes it and WILL cause spun bearings if you just let it go as you stated.

Oh okay, well I know for sure I have a sensor problem because my engine isn't running right lol. I just thought there might be another problem that I hadn't uncovered. I tried to reply to your PM, but you have them disabled. And you don't have an email listed in your account.

Thanks you guys... Great help and yeah my car is running rich... I think my injectors are worn or something is this possible... Or should I just replace the O rings before I go out and buy new injectors?

New O-rings couldn't hurt.

First make sure your injectors are the problem. If you search you can find out how to do it. Basicly just remove your fuel rail and turn the key to the on postion without starting the car then look for leaks.

what r some sensors that could cause this? cause mines doin the same thing but not saving any codes on the ecu?

Your MAFS or O2sensor will cause it the run Lean/Rich... Im going to do a leak test on my rail tomorrow. If the rail is not leaking how do i go about testing the injectors themselves other then getting a dyno diagnostic... Me and my buddy work on my car he is an ASE certified tech and we can not pull codes off my ECU there's doesn't appear to be a light on the ECU and if its a dash light that flashes, it don't flash!

start with the O2 sensor..there 15 bucks man..and really should be changed every 30k miles anyways...if it still runs like crap..then im betting you may have a bad maf...do a simple test (fsm here on nico) and see if its within specs...search button has the test method..good luck and keep us posted.

xS-13x its cool man, I was just talking smack, Im no Ethug, lol.

Update:

Did a leak test, no leaks... Cranked it over, spray pattern matched, So looked good to me. On an earlier post I was having power loss issues that seemed like a bad waistgate actuator (wastegate-actuator-t491964.html) Well it ended up being my alternator, thing must have been slowly going out for months and month because with a new one in there the car runs much stronger and seems like its not running rich anymore, lack of spark must have been drowning my cylinders cuz no more black smoke! So I changed my oil drove about 64 miles today and the oil looks good still Yay! But when one door slams anther opens i guess, could yall check out my new post I think I got big problems now!

if the maf is bad the car will go into limp mode and will barely go above idle. (my maf was bad, just replaced) in my case my car would go until 2700 rpm and choke itself

Is limp mode for an unplugged MAF sensor, or a fouled MAF sensor?
