So i decided to install the 370Z side emblems on the 300zx the problem is that behind the hole i made is a black box that blows out air when the car is on. Does any one know what these boxes are? there are one on each side. Can i remove them and just leave the hose that plugs into the box so that can blow out the air?

The "black box" is part of the AIV system which allows air to enter the exhaust and lower emissions at idle.

QUESTION: why would you want to put 370 badges on a 300?

'Cause they're Z emblems and they glow.

Thanks for the answer. Can the air tank be removed without causing any engine problems?

Did you read the link I attached on how to properly delete it? It does not cause any issues to engine.

PS - leave the 370 badge on the 370....badges belong on the cars they come with.

Yeah I read the page, but I just want to get rid of the air boxes that bring in air to the AIV not get rid of the AIV itself. I just don't want to mess up my emissions since I have a smog check coming up.

I think they look good, plus they serve as turn signals. Also its not like its something tacky bought off of ebay. It is manufactured by Nissan.

You can't just get rid of the air boxes and still have the AIV system working properly. If you remove the boxes may as well take the whole system out.
