Black body mouldings are a pain

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Front and rear black bumpers and over the wheel wells do not seem to be a problem, however the black side mouldings have white run marks and get quit grungy looking.

What products are folks using to clean the grunge off and remove white streaks.

Well, after using the clay bar and putting 2 coats of wax on, the trim looked a little dull. I found Meguiars Gold Class trim detailer at Lordco and it restored the shine to the bumpers and lower moulding. Also found the California duster at that store too and it's the greatest. Since it's dry where I live and doesn't rain too often it eliminates the need to wash the car just to get the dust film off. Thanks to the poster from Arizona that mentioned that product. There should be a Lordco in Regina and I found they have a wide range of Meguiars products if you want to go that route.

Lordco does not seem to want to venture out of BC.

That's ok, there are a few places I can go for Meguiars products. Auto Electric, Part Source....

I feel I need to remove the stains before protecting it.

That is attractive. I don't care for the body kit though.

no that body kit looks tacked on (because it is).

Standard washing with my car wash soap and then treating with zaino tire shine seems to work for me.

I just hit it with some good tar/bug remover and then spray some tire shine ( meguiars NXT in a can) and wipe it with a cloth.. works great and keeps it some what clean, and shiny..

ditto on the bug n' tar remover -- Turtle Wax has an aerosol spray on version, let it soak for 10 minutes, then wipe it dry. I found that a spray bottle (not aerosol) of Eagle One Nano-wax really seals nicely and is super easy to spray on and wipe off. I have also had good results with some black trim dressing - whose name and manufacturer escapes me. It was a dark gray "gel" that came out of a 6 oz or so squeeze bottle.

For your information. It was recommended to me to use the Magic Eraser on the black mouldings. I took my car to the wand wash and blasted the loose dirty off. I filled my pail full of water and wet the Mr Clean Eraser. I was careful not to touch any paint just incase.

Results - perfectly clean, removed all crap and the staining I was complaining about. I didn't use anything afterwards for protection but I will in the future.

Not familiar with "Magic Eraser" -- is this the thing on TV for use on tile floors to get rid of scuff marks?

Guess I won't need it either way becuase the only thing I get on mine are dust and the occasional road tar, which the Turtle Wax Bug n' Tar spray removes easily.

But it would be good to know what this magic do-hicky is! Thanks!

It's a household cleaning product

It is a sponge basically, and I have no idea what it really is made of.
