Yet another BOSE issue. . . Recently I replaced the bose h/u for a nice OEM one used on ebay. Everything seemed fine until this morning the left rear speaker (on drivers side, in the rear by the trunk) didn't make any noise at all (never noticed anything blow out). I checked the connection to the speaker, unplugged and plugged in again, made no difference.

What happened? Is this a known issue? How should I replace it?

Also check the wiring. If the wiring is worn or split anywhere, dampness in the morning can get into it and stop things from working till it dries itself out.

When I start the car in the morning I can hear the bad speaker hiss, not that loud but certainly audible.

I tried to look at the wiring, it looked fine, I tried to switch the left and right wirings to test it, but they wont reach and I think I need a needlenost pliars to unhook some of those plastic ties. .

Ideas,. . . comments?

Update: I took out the left rear speaker, and hooked into the right rear speaker's cable /amp, and it didn't play there either, making me believe it is that one speaker.

How the hell do I find a single bose speaker?

I have a 1997 J30t.

Can someone tell me what other models/years are the bose rear speakers exchangeable?

Do the part numbers have to be identical?

Found out some more ifno. . .according to scotsdale parts dept, the j30's from 94-97 all have the same number j30s94-97 28138-10y05

My question is, are the q45 speakers advertised on ebay compatible?

(a 94 q45 has part # 28138-68U00). Does it matter if the part numbers are the same?

There's no reason to look for a 6x9 that's 1ohm nominal. For one you're not going to find one, two it's going to be very expensive, and three a normal aftermarket speaker would work just fine. It's a misconception that you can not use a higher ohm then OEM speaker with the bose amps. Doing so will cause absolutely NO harm to the amps. In fact, they will last LONGER do to the reduced stress and lower operating temperature.

I recommend a pair of infinity kappa 6x9s for the rear
