I've stumbled across some odd concept cars in the last few days, and it gave me an idea:Let's try and get a thread going with pics of oddball concept cars...

Here's a few to start (the ones that inspired this thread):

Chevy XT-2: (that's a camaro under there...)

Ford MegastarAnotherAnd anotherI actually kinda like this one...Definitely WAY ahead of it's time as far as styling...

Nissan Jikoo

Jeep Treo

And the first car to use radar as crash avoidance control:What else, but a Cadillac.

Jag xk180 Concept

These three are all from the 1999 Pebble Beach Concourse de Elegance

To be perfectly honest, I despise the first one, and am very fond of the production model. But then, even if I hated the prod model, the original concept would still be a**-ugly.

I'm pissed off by the fact they made the new Charger with auto only. That's gayer then AIDS.

I'm a fan of the new Chargers, but I think they should have made it look more like the old Chargers (before they had pop ups.) Give it a 440, 4 speed, and take away two doors and I'll buy one.

I was reading about this in Car & Driver the other day - Ford's Mustang Mach 32 concept. http://www.fast-autos.net/ford/mach32.jpg

Pretty ugly IMO.

Chargers had pop-ups? I don't remember that...when, where, pics?Or were you referring to the horrible name incarnation of the early 80's?

With the Daytona package, yes.

69 charger:

69 Charger Daytona:

But it was only as the daytona package, never the only light, unless you're referring to the hidden lights in the grille, a la 68.

Yeah, I was talking about the Daytona package.

'69 - '74 are the best looking IMO. I believe '75 was the year they went with that old-ladyish looking style.

That nissan concept reminds me of the old school datsun roadsters...

All concepts must be taken with the appropriate grain of salt that they are, indeed, just a concept.

Japanese: Hideous and idiotic concepts that turn into boring but decent looking rides.

Americans: Beautiful concepts that turn into ugly production cars.
