im posting this for a friend. he parked his car at a airport and when he came back it appeared that a bird of some sort, pooped on his passenger side rear door. the damage was severe. literally the paint came off to the bare metal and surface rust is occurring. is this a common thing or something i dont know. we are in maryland if that has any weight. i have pics.

Dont think that was caused by bird poop alone. Kinda looks like they didnt prep it too well for paint.

I had bird poop bubble paint on my Maxima once. Must have been something in the berries it had been eating and it sat on my car a few days in the sun before I noticed it.

Thats the trick right there. My sister had a couple berries of unknown type drop on her hood and she let them set there in the sun for a week. Bye bye paint.

It kinda looks like it got hit some time ago by the rust and the paint lost contact with the primer. looks like more is going to come off.

I'm not sure of the years, but when auto manufacturers were *just* starting to use water-based paints (some EPA bullcrap), the cars from that era had HORRIBLE paint problems.

I'm wanting to say domestic vehicles from around 1987 to the mid-90's... My Dad had a Dakota (89) and one day, the paint literally started coming off in sheets (like the size of a post-it note).
