I never played any of the Bionic Commando games on the Nintendo systems even though everyone said how great they were. This new one LOOKS excellent but all Capcom games look good but playability...meh Lost World(cough!).

IGN gave it an 8/10 and Play.tm gave it a 75%. Not great scores, but the primary flaws that were found in it were the linearity of the levels and story. Gameplay, however didn't seem to crop up on any reviews as an issue. Gametrailers gave the game some praise for the use of the swing mechanics. They did say that you will feel like an absolute klutz for an hour or so until you start to get the hang of it, then after that the motions become easier and more fluid like. The HUD gives you key on notifications as to what you can/cannot grip, and the combat mechanics of the arm work very well too.

I played the original Bionic Commando on NES. It's one of those wonderfully nostalgic games because it was so unique in its execution. Rearmed was a great remake of it and proved to be an extraordinarily fun experience.

In fact, I might go reinstall Rearmed on Deidra's PS3 and play through it again. And then go rent the new Bionic Commando to give it a swing. The multiplayer looks fun and I think it'll be great to try and chase down people who can swing competently.

Yeah, I remember playing the original Bionic Commando not only on the NES, but at one of our old arcades, too. *Chuck E. Cheese*

Think the only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that I couldn't jump & its difficulty. But hey, I got used to it & it actually wore itself on me.

I think I'll try the new one since I'm a fan of the 80's/90's classics.

I picked it up. It's fun, but there are a few drawbacks to it. There's no sandbox feel to the game. It's very linear, and if you stray off the path, you die almost instantly. The story is very meh, but I knew that going into it. The difficulty has some weird spikes in it.

However, the boss fights are fun. It's been a while since I had to do trial and error to figure out boss fights. The swing mechanics are fun once you get them down. The learning curve just stinks a bit. And I love the visceral feeling of using your bionic arm to smash bad guys. It's also very gorgeous. They did a very good job with the visuals.

It's short, though. I beat it in a few days of off and on playing. I would suggest renting it because of that.
