You will say "I wish I hadn't gotten this bike" if you ever go down hard with it. The saying is that there are 2 kinds of riders--those who have gone down and those who will go down. Please don't get me wrong...hold your flames. I've owned a '84 Nighthawk S 700, a '95 GSXR1100, and a '99 TL1000R. All wonderfully fun. Unbelievable experience, no question. But when you're lying on the side of the road in a pool of your own blood, with bones protruding through your skin, you have no choice but to regret some things. That happened to me and was due to someone else's mistake at 25mph in broad daylight in a residential neighborhood. If I had been in a car instead of on a bike, it wouldn't have been more than a bad day. As it is, I've got a steel plate and 17 screws in my leg, a bad knee, and no ACL. It's been 5 years, and I still think about it almost every day. Ask any emergency room nurse or doctor about the most common cause of gruesome motor vehicle injuries, and they will most likely say motorcycle.I won't fault anyone for buying a bike. I know what it's like to want one badly. But maybe if I had a more graphic idea of the risks, I might have avoided them (maybe not). If you get one, have fun and be safe. I just thought I should be candid with the harsh realities of what can happen.
