Nissan didn't. It's a Straman conversion. Who also did a few Z32s before Nissan bought the rights and did it themselves.

Best estimates show around 350 were converted between 1984 and 1992. I'm still trying to find exact numbers.

edit: No. It's not a turbo.

Nice. I think I like the 'vert Z31 better than the Coupe. Reminds me of a C4 'Vette.

Sweet. I've never even heard of a vert Z31. Def reminds me of a C4 from profile view. Super clean.

Definitely a hot car (I looked at the tail end for 5 hours, LOL).

Looks even better with the new wheels on it (polished 6-spokes from a G35 coupe).

Might try emailing the guy on this page. He claims previous owner of his 84, said there were only 11 Staman modified 84's.

I took a few minutes of non-rain time to take a couple pictures. The first three are from the previous owner just after we finished putting the wheels on it. So the rear suspension hadn't settled yet.

REX: Can you post the link where you got that information?

Also look for Road & Track Nissan 300Zx & 350Z Portfolio 1984-2003 it's supposed to includeQuote »his book is yet another volume in the exciting new Road & Track series covering top performance cars. Among topics covered in its 27 articles from Road & Track and Road & Track Specials are: "Corvette vs. Nissan 300ZX Turbo", "The right-stuffing of the 300 ZX", "The boulevardier stops here", "Straman 300 ZX convertible", "Super Z-Steve Millen Sports Cars GTZ", "Nissan 300ZX twin turbo", "SMZ first drive," "Nissan 300ZX 2+2", "David and the Goliaths-Nissan 350Z vs. Corvette vs. BMW M3 vs. Porsche 911", "2003 Nissan 350Z Touring", and "The shape of things to come-350Z Roadster".[/quote]But I'd lay bets it's the 1990 version of the Straman, worth thumbing through at a 2nd hand book store.

I've seen two of those in person in the past couple years. Very cool and unique. Looks great with the G35 wheels too...just need to lower that 4x4 now lol

Did you get a good deal on it?
