Chris Brown.

For the second time in four weeks, McCain has had the national stage to himself while Obama has been out of the country. The first time was when Obama took his overseas trip last month. And of course, this week while vacationing in Hawaii with his family.

McCain has been unable to capitalize. He’s shown that he and his campaign are clueless whenever Obama is away. They have no plan. They have no message. It’s like the lost child anxiously waiting for the parent to return.

McCain couldn’t make any substantive news. The Russia-Georgia conflict doesn’t count. In fact, he made a critical lapse in judgment by overexerting himself into the issue. Can you say ‘presumptuous’?

Instead he wanders aimlessly from campaign events looking more unimpressive each time. McCain has been so non-newsworthy this week that the networks have all but given the Olympics full coverage to fill their airtime. Even the reported “Bigfoot” discovered in Georgia has garnered press coverage.

And yet, for McCain’s incessant complaints of media bias, he failed to capitalize. Can you name anything worthwhile that McCain has said or done this week to significantly advance his Presidential bid? Can you cite any strategic decision McCain made this week that’s had a positive impact on his campaign?

Obama is smart. He’s indirectly demonstrated McCain’s weakness; no substantive relevance.

This is what has driven many to support Obama. McCain just doesn't seem to have a plan other than critizing Obama. When Obama disappeared for a week, McCain did in fact fall flat. When will the McCain train see that he truly lacks any substance or direction? Who is pulling his strings, who is really in power in his camp? If he won, who will really be in power? Scary.

Have we met BO's massive troupe of advisors?

Didn't think so.

Looks like an op-ed piece Telco would have posted, BTW. But here's the source, and it's a little *ahem* biased: http://www.politicalbase.com/p...=3098

And Time Magazine would beg to differ with the author, calling this past week a "turning point" for the Mac Campaign.

Seriously Bob, that's a weak article even by your standards. And a quick check revealed that our Politics forum gets more hits than that blog. Wooo!

That's why I put the authors name at the beginning of the text.

I agree, turning point. McCain wasn't negative. Good point there. Of course, he wasn't anything, so maybe not a good point.

I didn't expect the McCain supporters would notice the void in McCain's content for the week, after all, he hasn't had anything of consequence to add as to what he supports or how he'd act in any given situation for some time now. He's not unlike a hungry dog following another being around hoping a little scrap of something is dropped to feed his need to criticize. When it's absent for a week, he's got nothing to say.

I see McCain campaign so far as a pointless troll in the political process.

Apparently, it's working.

Empty rhetoric is great for pop stars, but it's wearing thin for The Llama Brigade.

Obama disappeared? Since when does leaving the country remove you from criticism. "The Georgian conflict doesn't count" If I don't count the times I've been on TV i've never been on TV. Who ever wrote this is an idiot.

That's what the dems want. A charismatic figure that they can delude themselves into following. Qualifications aren't important, eligibility isn't important, only that you make fun of the rich, while being well off, and spew things that make people feel good. Remember the democratic way, you're free to be anything you want without persecution, so long as it's not republican.

Yes, he was on a private beach in Hawaii with his family. That's pretty much disappearing.

When McCain had to concentrate on what he stood for, he suddenly got very quiet and the press found other things more interesting, like bigfoot sightings.

Well I haven't noticed anything out of the usual from McCain other than not defending himself against meaningless criticism of semantics from Obama. It's quiet now that the kids are at camp.

I agree, he's not done anything unusual at all this week. Maybe his staff is on vacation.

I heard he took a phone call from his wife Cindy. After asking her where she was, she told him she was home. After hanging up, he realized he didn't know where she was?
