alright i just bought a 90 M30 for 100 bucks. the catch is it hasent been driven in the past 5 years and has 150,000 miles. soon after the purchase wouldnt you know A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. so im doing reaserch and find out the same block is used for the M30 as the VG30deTT.... this got me thinking im gonna put a twin turbo engine in my M30 now the question i have is if anyone has already done this and could give me some advice for the swap. i got the engine on the way with a 5spd transmission. i figure it would be the cheapest way i could get a fast car. if anybody knows about the crossmembers for the transmission or if they fit plese give me some advice cause i wanna get all the parts soon but am still waiting for the engine in the mail. anyway any feedback will be apreciated

Are you sure the M30 VG30E use the same block as the Z32 VG30DETT??????May be you should do some more research before getting to excited.

i bought the car more then a month ago...all that time ive been doing research. and with all the many words i have read it is the same block with different heads. ill brake down the engine code as ive found it VG30E is wats in the M30 VG30DETT is wats in the 300zx TT. VG is nissans series of the valve timing engines.. 30 means 3.0 Liters E reconizes overhead cams the D means dual overhead cams....NOW the all mighty TT means TWIN TURBO wich also means big power. now ill admit that im not 100% sure that wats in the M30 is of the same generation of the block as the 300 but i do know that there would only be some small differences between the two and the only thing that is important is the engine mounts which there location should not be a part of a change in the block therefore it should slide into place like butter on toast. that just leaves me with the question of weather or not there will be any problems with the crossmember of the transmission. again my reasearch says no but im looking for confirmed knowlege about these parts.. just for all you many ppl out there ill keep updating as i build. but untill i start all i can do is talk about it and try to get as much info as posable

I'm sorry, but the answer is "No"The VG30E(use in the z31 300zx, 200sx, M30, pickup, minivan share very little thing if any with the VG30DETT use only in the Z32 300zx Twin Turbos. It would be easier to drop the whole TT motor into the M30 than to convert the VG30E into a VG30DETT.

And in an M30, it would probably be easier (and cheaper) to drop a sr20det in than the 300z TT.

ok if you look back through the post i am not tring to convert my engine to a dett i am puting the vg30dett along with the 5spd transmission into the M30. out with the old in with the new style . the only things i need to line up are engine mounts and transmission mounts. not heads to block. as far as an sr20 compared to the dett. theres a hole there designed for a V6 so for all its worth thats is what im gonna cram back in there. sr20det swap average $1600 Vg30dett swap $1800. ill cough up the little extra. so if u all will stop tring to put down my idea and give me some facts about mount locations itll make this whole idea a little easier

You better bring more than $1800. The wonderful world of forced induction has a hefty appetite for money.

yea i know, 1800 is the initial cost of a vg30dett, trans, ecu and harness after that gonna need intercooler& plumbing. biger fuel pump CROSMMEMBERS, mounts plus mine as well put the 300z brake setup on there too there still many more i am fully aware of but that stuff is not just yet a concer caus the engine needs to go in first. all to gether i figure 3G and the car will move

well well well, you do have some work ahead of you. Are you planning to do this yourself, or have an expert do it? I'm planning the same thing myself and as far as I've seen so far it's not going to be easy (not impossible either though). As far as buying the replacement, you are best offf buying the vg30dett front clip. Its a little bigger, so you will have to make room for the intercooler. Also more power requires better braking, so I see bigger rotors in your future. Enigne and transmission mounts need to be fabricated because the j30 mounts wont be sufficient, and the 300zx ones wont fit. Stiffer suspension recommended if you like drifting that heavy tail like I do. AND 3g will get you moving, but it'll take at least 4 to let you stop it too.

I roll M30 and from what I've gathered, anything is possible with money and time and customization.

as for a straight bolt on.. you'll have some trouble. As for the twin turbos.. you'll have issues around the steering rack.

but thats small cakes.. do it!!!!

Dammit! Something always "happens" to the really good shows.

And now, we'll never, ever hear anything about it ever again. Like how he found out it just won't go.
