Hey I live in Ca, and am going to swap an RB25DET into my S14.

What I would like to ask is how do I in a sense mute the BOV, stopping it from making that infamous turbo sound? Like that of a BMW.

The Idea is to look good and only sound a little cool nothing to give away anything to the local law enforcement.

are you talikng about the woooosh? if thats what your talking about your can Recirculate the bov. what BOV do you plan on using? this is the HKS recirculation valve. you just get a tube and weld it to your intercooler. all the air that did that wooosh sound will go back into the intercooler. so your problem is solved no more wooosh.

recirculating the bov may quiet it down but it wont make the sound go away completely

the stock setup will be the quietest. if you use the whole skyline airbox setup, it will be REALLY quiet. I know a lot of sound comes back through the intake system and out the air filter if you are running a pod filter right in front of the MAF.

Wait up, you're swapping an RB25 into an S14, and the biggest tech question you have so far is how to quiet the blow off to hide from cops? I take it you haven't bought the motor or started your build/swap yet... Anyway the other guys already answered you, to minimize noise you'd recirculate your bypass valve and run a stock airbox.

Way to show you don't have any clue how a bypass valve works on a turbo system. The correct way to plumb the bypass valve is to recirculate the intake charge back to the compressor inlet pipe, after the MAF and before the compressor inlet. What you wrote about dumping back to the intercooler would do nothing at all, just think about it.

^ Sorry this image isn't bigger, but it's a great, simple diagram to reference.

When I saw the exaggerated topic in caps locked I knew this'd be a great thread..

Ooooh wicked burn!!

Just leave the stock one on or buy an aftermarket one that recirculates. . . Yeah, if this is your big tech question you have a long f@#kin road ahead of you.
