big shots of nitrous on stock internals?

ok here's a question

my friend tim has an s13 240....good suspension...alot of other nice stuff. engine has been rebuilt back to OE spec. he doesnt get on the net alot so im doing some research for him

He has an MSD 6-AL box, upgraded wires and 1 step colder plugs.

He has decided to use nitrous and has a kit coming. Ive seen 90 shot done quite a bit on the stock internal'd motor. He wants to do a 100 shot to start with. I think it will be just fine since he has an LSD and a clutch to handle it.

Another question is we were thinking of a two step system. Spray 75 shot and then another 75 shot for more added punch...but not all at once. He would have the first 75 hooked up to a WOT switch and the second 75 shot he would activate once he switched to 3rd gear. Would the motor handle 150shot total? I think it will since your only going to be getting under 300hp off this total. Cause the stock motor only puts out 160hp to the flywheel and to the wheels its around 130 give or take a few hp.

Has anyone tried this before. This isnt his daily driver so he said if he blows it up its ok but he doesnt wanna blow it up in the first 10 times he does it

so basically can the motor handle a 2stage system that equals 150 shot total? cause he knows 100shot off the WOT switch would not get him anywhere other than spinning tires.

You would need a fuel pump. Other then that if you don't abuse it you should be fine with a 100 shot.

so the motor couldnt handle more than 100 shot? that sux poo....he already has a walbro pump...but he really wanted to do a 75 shot and then another 75shot as an added bonus....anyone else have more info on this? i know 100shot is to be prolly in the safe limits but really whats the problem with running the big 2 stage shot that he wants to? we know the ka can handle over 300hp in stock trim....

were not really accustomed to nitrous....i know turbos and so does he....ive seen stock ka's take 15psi all day...make over 300hp too...so what would be the big problem running 150 total?

p.s. u think he might see low 13's with 100 shot?

sure it can handle 300hp, but do you happen to know that the torque also jumps? and usually it does 2x the hp shot, as in you get a 100 shot in, you'll get 150-200 of torque?(seen it happen in a lot of other cars where torque does more than hp).

yeh don't abuse it, get a tune maybe(unless you go with a wet shot), since its running a lot more air in, i believe people have done 100 shot on stock internals, not sure bout 150 though.

mmm...well i got him thinking maybe we should do a 50 shot WOT and then another 50shot with a switch so he can obtain traction better....but we will see what happens...didnt want to spray 100 shot with just a WOT switch

when you speak of getting 150 to 200ft lbs of torque....is that on top of what the stock hp is putting out? because if so that would be a big help. help me here cause im really kinda new to nitrous and were exploring our possibilities as much as we can while at the same time im still reading up on all this.

i mean as in you put a 100 shot, it'll give you a 100 hp more(not always a 100 but usually around that), it'll give more than 100 of torque.(say stock is ~130, add 100 shot, it'll make it ~260 or more)

this kinda blows...we were hoping we could spray up to 150shot...he says he still wants to experiment with up to 120 shot...we will see what happens...he will prolly blow it up but he only drives it on the weekends and he puts 100 octane in the tank....

you want a wet kit.bc the wet kit also adds more fuel to the no2.. the more no2 the mroe fuel..get it? That is important because you dont want to run lean. Do some searches.. you need to search on timing. Running a shot that large..

its cool about the thread jack...yeah he ordered a wet kit....it came in today....were gonna put it on his car later this evening and experiment with 50 shot and go up a lil bit....

Erebuni body kit and thank you for the compliment.... its the nismo knock off but its still expensive... retails for 989 but i paid 250 for the front bumper and 150 for the side skirts... someones loss... my gain.. lol only pita is its fiber glass.. and i keep patching it on the front lip.. i didn't get the rear valence i guess the call it because it adds on to the rear bumper and does flow right.. found a replacement bumper though that looks good with the kit... more pics of the car are on sounddomain... the picture is a link...

well i am going to buy an extra motor and see if my current motor will take a 150. i have sprayed 75ish shot many times. i have a guy in a 95ish mustang gt with a 100 shot talking smack so maybe i can shut him up. his best time is 8.5 i think in the 8th i have ran 9.2 on my 75ish shot. so maybe i will take the money. i hope my auto or my rear end donw take a **** on me.
