Hi, this may be a little lengthy so bare with me.

Im new to the forums, I have used the forums in the past to complete work on a 240sx s13.

You guys have help me a lot, and thank you guys for sharing your expertise on Nissan cars.("240sx").

I have used this forum to do alot of personal -DIY on the car since i got it.

A little history on the car:

92 240sx - KA24DE - Manual - 184,000 k on speedo.

Car was impounded in "2005" and had the radio stolen out. No keys included.

the previous owner didn't want the car and sold it for parts. I brought the car for parts only and decided that i would fix it.

$400.00 dollars and a wrecker pull and the car was mine. (Mega-Cheap)

When i got the car the Timing chain cover was off and the dizzy was disconnected as well as sensor wires that were connected to the transmission. Car was also showing a check engine light.

Car had no keys, the steering wheel is locked.

With all these parts that were disconnected, i thought that some one started to use the car for parts-"Like the cars i got my parts off of at the pull yard".......LOL

After reconnecting the broken wires to 3 sensors, and adjusting the Power steering pump, i concluded that the car should start.

Now i have brought about every part replaceable on the car.

I have replaced the Computer, Ignition Coil, various Sensors such as Engine Temp Sensor.

Starter would not turn engine over, so i went to the junk yard got another starter - $30 bucks, put the starter in, car engine cranked over. So i fixed the starter problem.

Engine would not catch or start.

Car would not start so i thought it was the Ignition Coil as many forum members said that the coils tended to wear out. replaced the coil - observed the spark on the spark plugs - confirmed that the original coil was good after all. So I got 2 coils now!

Using the Forums, I found the correct KA24DE timing procedure.

I have timed the car about 30 times trying to correct the non firing-starting issue.

I know that it should not take 30 times just to "time" this engine.

The timing guide stated: Put pulley at TDC mark - 1st cylinder position on Dizzy. Start car..... Car wont start.

Not having the keys, and with the steering wheel locked i decided after many starting attempts, that the cars ANTI THEFT may be ENABLED, Thus preventing the engine from starting. I have not been able to locate the anti theft circuits in this car, or info on the internet.

-I took off the "Plastic" steering cover-, and removed the key assembly(Ignition switch) to use the switch to try to start the car with a screwdriver. Turing the switch cranks the engine, but the engine backfires and pops intermittently- sometimes.

This leads me to believe that the dizzy may be bad or functioning incorrectly.

Also when i try to start the car the clock on the dash back lights, but shows no time-

Could this be a problem with the computer or something?

I noticed that these clocks usually work on most 240sx.

Problem:

Could the Dizzy be the problem? keeping the timing off... or Will not having the keys to the 240sx keep it from starting? or Having the Radio Stolen out -Messed up the AntiTheft?

Before i sent this pup to NISSAN down the street and get my pocket hammered.. Can you Nissan Techs Help me please?

I am at wits end, pulling my hair out, arrggg please help! If i cant find out what is wrong ITS GOING TO THE SHOP!

Reggie-Call me if you want to yell at me about it too....

Ok well i didnt read it entirly just scanned it, but what i think is your timing is 180 degrees. If you have fuel and spark and it isnt starting its a timing or compression issue. You are timing it correctly by lining the marks up and haveing cylinder 1 at TDC but make sure you are on the right stroke. Take the cap off the distributor and watch the rotor while you spin the engine.
