Ok, I was racing someone the other night. When I took off I was about to change to 2nd gear and this big bang happened. I hadnt changed the gears yet but It sounded like I dropped the transmission. Anyone with a manual has done this for sure, If you have ever been backing up and while moving put it back into gear, it sounded like that but much louder. I completly stopped trying to race they guy, after that I put it in second and kept driving. All the gears still work fine, went all over the car to see if I could find anything but cant. Any ideas?

Im guessing that there was no fluid or anything when you parked it. I'de say just check the mounts first to see if a bolt came loose and twisted. Dunno but hope it helps.

i did this same thing the other day when it was raining. i was slipping the tires hardcore and i always preload the shift into second so when i punch the clutch it shifts fast. i didnt hit the clutch yet but it popped out of gear into neutral and made an extremely loud noise. werd.

Fluid in the transmission? or clutch? I dont know what my RPMS were, I heard the noise and about well you know. I looked to see if any bolts came off the night I got home but didnt see anything. Couple leaks here and there but they never drip on the driveway and for a car with 220K I would say thats to be expected.

I never knew the Manuals had a rev limiter on them.

Sounds like a bad differential mounting bushing... causing the differential to have some slack. Other possibilities are that the driveshaft U-joints are going south on ya. The bushing material in the center driveshaft carrier coupling may be goin out as well.

oh, now that is not good. :(What do I look for to see if they are going out. I know when I turn to the left while backing up it makes a thump noise under my feet.

That would be more than likely to a tension rod that needs to be re-torqued... they have 120 lb. ft. IIRC on the main bolts. Mine did that.
