Yo, quick question Brian. I know some of us have been asking you if you were gonna do an engine swap and ya said no cause it's illegal and won't pass inspection. I think I'm gonna be in the same sort of situation if I move up to VA, so my ? is can I avoid VA inspections if I just leave my car in my mom's name here in SC? I'm really diggin the thought of a sr swap. I have a feelin this is a stupid ?.

Hey Brian, what do you suggest radiator wise. Something around $200. I just bent mine in a wreck. Koyo is a bit pricey for me.

I was thinking powered by max.

PBM is 200 while Mishimoto's 300. Though PBM is great, I would go with the more established brand. Plus Mishimoto has a lifetime guarantee on their rads.

i picked up a cxracing rad for super cheap after hearing some good reviews on them. i wanted a pbm rad but they were out of stock. we'll see how the cxracing holds up, i'm not expecting it to last but it was only $139 including shipping so its not like i spent a lot on it

I really have NO idea. I think you MIGHT be ok, but might not. I wish I knew more about it.

bummer.

I would probably never buy a KOYO. I've seen/hear of a few cracked ones for no apparent reason.

Parts Shop Max - I had one actually, (for my SR swap that didnt happen), Seemed ok. Nothing special.

Right now I have a Spearco one. I have no idea if those are expensive or not, but it works fine. I got it from my friend who used it on his RB25 S13.

Mishimoto - I would not ever have one unless it was offered to me for free.

I would just get a stock one unless you have a built sr or some s***.

Agreed - I took THREE cracked Koyos to our local recycler with a load of aluminum...

Not a fan.

If I had the scratch, I'd have a Griffin custom made.

it depends where your moving to, i think if you go to the dc area and some places in nova you MIGHT be hassled but i doubt that.youd probbaly have a bigger chance of being ticketed for being too low or window tint...va cops arent too well informed on swaps and the like.

i agree AZ, i think they sub theyre radiators out and were bought out a few years ago or something like that, they suck now.

sorry for speakin on your thread bh, appologies

Oh, I didn't mind. If you have help for somebody who asks a question here, please give it.

If I think the idea sucks, I'm going to tell you it sucks, though. haha.

yeah I think I'm in a good spot for a new job at the moment.

these cracked radiators you guys speak of...were they all aluminum? I know the plastic tanks on the top on the stock style radiators crack over time.

We would hope so.....

Something to keep in mind with all those aftermarket radiators is this. Quality doesn't come cheap.

Now consider the market.

...and, keep in mind, all things being equal, a brass radiator will work better.

also keep in mind, a stock car might be more reliable.

Yo BeeRye (says Stewie from Family Guy), if you do decide to start a new project, would you sell your hb whole or would there be a massive line of folks waiting to place dibs on your parts? Lol, no ****.

Hey Brian please pardon my response to PJ, no thread jackin of any sort is intended Oh really, I plan on moving to the Hampton Roads/Norfolk area. I thought VA had vehicle inspections or is it just basic tire/tags etc.

Hmmm, I'd probably keep some parts and sell some parts. I think it's kind of useless trying to sell a whole car in the current state of the world. I kept stuff from my 14 to put on this car, so I figure I could do the same IF a new build took place.

yes va does have inspection, but no emissions. and no "waiiiit a sec...thats motors not supposed to be here" crap.pretty much, all your lights, wipers and horn must work. tires have to have tread up to abe's head, and good brakes. some places will check for a cat others wont. as long as your cars not stupid loud and can be pulled onto and off of a lift without getting hung up you should be perfectly fine.pretty much if it has mufflers and i can see out of it and it stops it doesnt matter if i crammed a cobrajet in there.
