Has anyone ever ordered the miracle gunk BGK44? (Or whatever.) Surely there must be someplace that'll ship out a case. Costco has a good price on Techron ... but if this stuff is THAT good ...

Even the BG 44k is designed to keep Clean INJECTORS Clean sure it works 2-3 times better than Techron but in the concentration 12 oz to 22 gallons [0.426%] is nothing like the 10% found in the BG injector flush solvents. {which is so concentrated that the engine will knock above 1800 rpm}!!!!

If members have never had a rail flush they don't know what they are missing [95% of the time the idle smooths out like new if the plugs and intake tract are ok].

By the way all additives for gasoline must be EPA approved and the formulation [active components are listed] 90% of the ones you buy are toluene/xylene with a tiny fraction of detergents.....not enough to do any harm but not enough to do much either.

BG doesn't sell to public and cannot be transported Easily/cheaply due to fire hazard....they have their own FLEET of trucks and delivery vans.

Click here for the list of BG Distributors

I'd call your nearest distributor and see what shops in your area stock it. Your local rep. may also sell you a case.

When you get a 30k or 60k service at Infiniti they pour a can in the tank. This is what is meant by "injector cleaning or service".Not worthless but surely less than is necessary considering that over 1,500 gallons of fuel have passed thru the injectors.

I must have used 25 cans [in first 100k] before I understood that a rail flush was significantly better and less expensive [$99-$129] vs $400.Chevron would love to sell you Techron at every fill up they would then triple the profit vs the gasoline.

Same with BG 33k it does make a difference but it goes away after a few tanks full of non treated gasoline because the injectors always refoul [my definition is a more than 2-3% variance in flow creating an non perfect idle at 650 rpm].

Thanks for the link to local distributors. The stuff is readily available enough. But yes, its $19.80 per 11 oz. can. The rail flush sounds like a better move ... with my Costco-bought Techron every third tank.

What does a rail flush involve?

You disconnect and loop the two fuel lines so the pump runs and sends the gasoline back to the tank. A substitute variable pressurized bottle of special BG detergents /solvents/fuel runs the engine for 15-20 minutes at a slightly higher than normal pressure [50 psi via shop air] at fast idle 800-1,000 rpm!

Simplified but you should get the process.Usual cost $99-$129 takes about an hour to hook up run and return the system to normal. The owner is instruct to vigorously drive the car for 15-30 minutes to blow the gunk out!

I bet it is difficult to get the owners to "vigorously drive" their Q's for only 15 to 30 minutes....

For all those that don't know Tom yet, he has a well earned rep of being a long-time friend to the Infiniti community.

So don't look at his post as a blatant advertisment.

Those chemicals are hard to find and his prices are very good.

For those who don't know about the BG MOA:I am generally not a friend of ANY oil additives, but this one is an exception, the only one I know of that is not a scam.

It doesn't promise the world like Prolong and such and i but it does what it says.

Primarily it adds the zinc that is missing from many modern oil formulations (API SJ specs out low zinc, to go easy on catalytic converters in cars with excessive blowby).Zinc is a great anit-wear additive. Also in case your engine is not very clean and your oil of choice is low in detergent (such as MOBIL1) it also adds some extra detergents.

Fred..:)

I second the recommendation for Tom. He saved me $500 on a new radiator...local dealer wanted $900 to replace it...Tom sold me one for $347 and I paid a local guy $50 to install it. And shipping was included. This brings to mind another factor: without this Board and the excellent discussions, I would have had no idea that I could have done this...Thanks to everybody...
