Hello guys,

Here is another mystery with my Q45 '94 (117K). Whenever I put BG44K, my Q regains its power back and it feels very aggressive on the road. Plenty of power even when the rpms are low and I like it a lot!! But, about two tanks after BG44K the power sort of goes away and it becomes quiet slaggish again until I put the magic fluid in the tank. I thought that BG cleaning service that I did last week in the Nissan dealership would permanently resolve this problem but it didn't (it was fuel system and air induction cleaning). My question is, why the power goes away so quick just after a couple of pumps? I put premium all the time before it reaches a quarter of the tank and I am very strict about it. I also pump at local BP and it is actually another question for you guys, what pumps are the recommended ones. Is it possible that this BP has an old filter that results in dirty fuel being pumped into my baby?

Please help, as putting BG44K once a month does not fit in my budget.

Thanks,Andre.

Sounds like a fuel QUALITY problem! US [your local emission area] Premium may be at fault...........try different brands from different refineries [hard to find out].

Is your fuel oxygenated with excessive ETHANOL, that is usually the problem. Only takes a few tankfuls to gum up the works.

I have noticed if I run a BG fuel system dryer (additive sold with 44k at the place I get it) I get smother performance. The engine seems to have smother transitions between powerbands! On the other hand, it could be my imagination

When you replaced your fuel pump last, did you remove and steam clean the tank, replace the rubber in the fuel lines, and blow out the metal fuel lines?

Sounds like you are continually recontaminating your injectors. Don't rne the fuel filter past 12K miles. Nor the air filter.

My point concerned the BTU per gallon of the fuel you buy [some what resembles the old liquid which was called gasoline in the past].

125,000 BTU per gallon has declined to maybe 111,000 BTU [or worse with ethanol and water oxygenates]................a silent added 11% tax on driving.

Japan produces these high performance engines then they can't live up to hype because of low quality US fuels.

Pump listed octane means very little when oxygenates are used to make the numbers up!..........so it passes a simple octane [antiknock test] doesn't mean that the engine still doesn't produce 10-15% less power!
