Is there an equal alternative to BG44K? I can't seem to find a retailer near me.

The are NO RETAILERS just shops that carry and use/sell the product:Funny I found 81 shops within 25 miles guess you were too lazy [or uninformed] to use their finda shop web site:http://www.bgfindashop.com/loc...us=25

3 large bottles [~$25 worth] of Techron will approximate the amount of detergent in 1 - 11 oz BG44k.

Most dealers and independents stock BG44k but ebay maybe less expensive.

I'm sure a local BG rep will sell you a 20 unit case. North Georgia has 5 reps so I'm sure most states have 10...............they once told me that they had ~~ 330 US reps servicing 12,000 shops.

Took me 3 minutes including looking up your ZIP and the typing reply.

So while we're on topic, I've used Techron in my cars as an EFI cleaner for a long time and I have never noticed any bad side effects. Also, in the past 2 years I started using Seafoam (in tank, brake booster, and oil before a change) and I noticed it's becoming more popular (I used to hear about it al lthe time but the local autozone wasn't carrying it back then, so I had to go further to NAPA or some other small chain stores).

Anyway, do you recommend BG44K over techron and SeaFoam (as fuel additives)? I mean, you said it has more detergents but are they too harsh to use often? Also would I still have to use Seafoam to clean the intake plumbing or can BG44K also be breathed in via the intake tract? ... well to be more specific, technically I am sure it can be breathed in because either way it's going to end up in the combustion chamber, but is it advertised to clean that way as well?

Thanks

Actually I did go to that site and I looked up the retailers in my area. They're not retailers, they're shops and they won't sell me just the BG44K without getting the service. So try not to be a jerk when someone is trying to get a little help. Thanks

I only know of 2 in my area but I'm sure there are a lot more. Small import parts stores are your best bet. Import guys usually have a clue about what's good. Seems all the older small block shops could care less. I guess that's because they usually have to rebuild before the injectors get dirty. lol

BG is the only thing to use for injectors. Ebay is a great place to get it cheaper than anywhere else. The whole engine service is also worth the money. They have BG that they run through the intake as well as fuel and fuel rail. It's 3 cans of stuff and although it's expensive it will totally clean your system. If it's dirty you'll know after it's done just how dirty it was.

If you do have the 91 Q with a lot of miles just go for the whole service. It's worth it as the VH intakes get a lot of buildup in the intakes from the egr and pcv systems.

Seafoam doesn't include anything harmful or helpful in keeping fuel system clean. Just Pale oil, IPA. and Naphtha. See MSDShttp://www.seafoamsales.com/pdf/MSDS_SFTT_US.pdf

The IPA isopropyl alcohol does most of the work...................even secret ingredents must be shown on MSDS, guess there are none.Another snakeoil marketing product

On the other hand BG shows detergents:ALKANOLAMINE FATTY ACID ESTER, POLYOLETHYLENE GLYCOL MONOPROPYL ETHER 2807-30-9 * AMMONIUM HYDROXIDE 1336-21-6 METHYL AMYL ALCOHOL 108-11-2 OLEIC ACID 112-80-1 * XYLENE 1330-20-7 * ETHYL BENZENEhttp://www.bgfleming.com/products/msds/208.pdf

Thanks. So this means that it's not very useful for the in-tank treatment, and probably not so good for the in-oil treatment, but would you discount the benefits it has on the intake tract? And in either case for the fuel system treatment, why not just use a stronger concentration of off-the-shelf isopropyl alcohol or ammonium hydroxide then? It should be much cheaper anyway.

The only thing I have heard about seafoam was from a guy that used it on a supercharged engine. Apparently it washed the lube from the bearings and ever since using seafoam his SC has bearing whine. I have never used it for this reason. I have first hand experience with BG and it's reputation leaves nothing to be questioned.

Most people sell BG44k at retail price and that includes pouring it into the fuel tank..............so called fuel injection service.

I called 4 shops at random in your area acting as a idiot customer and asked would they just sell me some to send to my imaginary brother in Alaska all said sure comeby anytime.

I'm not sure how you approached those you said you called but obviously it was lacking something.

Ebay has 15 current sellers, some as low as $10 per can in lots of 6-10 units. 6 units should last 18 months.

We pay slightly more than $10 per can but singles at $20 is still a good deal

I said my brother called me, and asked me to find some BG44k and ship it to him and I had my son look them up on BG site ...............one even said use ebay I said I never had used computer and don't trust inet................I acted dumb as a rock - aka idiot customer.

See if they knew I was from a shop it would sound strange not to know or have a BG Distributer of my own.

We have people call us frequently to buy BG products and we are happy to service walkins.

I was hoping to find shops who refused so I could send BG an email to at least suggest they improve.

Many shops are reluctant to sell some of the more exotic products that use a rail flush device/pressure tank or intake fogger assembly for fear that the buyer may misuse and create more problems but short of drinking BG44k you cannot cause much damage pour it into gas tank.

The customer is always right even if he/she is an idiot.
