Message 24824 Re: fuel rail/injector cleaning q45tech The fuel injector/fuel rail cleaners is similar to 44K but different in that the detergent is in toluene/xylene [BG Fuel Injector Cleaner] which runs the engine from the pressurized bottle of solution. The rail return line is blocked and the pump looped back to the tank. 11 oz runs the engine at 50 psi for about 15-20 minutes at 1000 rpm. I vary the pressure [40-50-60 psi] and rpm [750-1800]. The higher pressure [34-44 psi normal] and the concentrate dissolves and pushes the crud through the injector [10 micron screen filter] and into the lower runner and into cylinder. Obviously the best method would be to remove the rails and injectors and clean them externally but this would cost over $1000 in that the plenum would have to be removed and gaskets on injectors replaced plus the injectors would have to be sent out to a special machine. I use this method every year on mine it takes about 15 minutes to hook up, 20 minutes to run and 10 minutes to return the system to normal. So 45 minutes turns into an hour getting the car in and out of the shop thus the $99 charge with the chemicals plus 44k if you want it. There are 3 different mixtures:"44k" for tank, "BG Induction cleaner" for plenum and runners, and "BG Fuel Injector Cleaner" I use all three not necessarily at the same time. When the Entire system is clean a PERFECT [as new] idle can be achieved even with the AC on and 650 rpm in drive. Even the techs were hard to convince that 2.5 hours of work could make such a difference [over what is normally done], I showed then on 2 cars and now we have 4 firm believers. $225 for a full clean [including manually cleaning throttle body with spray, brushes, rags, then spraying the plenum for 25 minutes, then the fuel rails, plus 44k in tank may seem excessive every year but it works!
Your in the wrong forum but this may help convince you.
