I have just run through my first tank loaded with BG 44K and I am very impressed with the results. My '92 Q45 is purring at idle like it was new and the response on accelleration appears to have improved although I have no specific data.

The question that I have is: is it reasonable to run a can through the tank every x number of miles or is it more reasonable to use the BG Supercharge II in every tank or two?

Also, has anyone found a price better than $14.95 for the BG 44K (from Blue Bonnet--it is a Yahoo online store).

ThanksKen K

Once right before an oil change should be sufficient......

Thanks for your reply.

What is the reason for doing it before an oil change? Are there chemicals that might deteriorate the oil? Is it just to remember to do it every 7500 miles or so?

ThanksKen K

7.5K is twice the oil change interval!

According to infinit, the Q needs its oil changed every 3750 miles..... 90 days seems to be better.....

No reason to do it before an oil change, you could do it after if you wanna, but it makes it easier to remember.....

Yes, indeed! I believe that 5K miles should be considered the absolute max between oil changes on any high-performance engine! Although I have recently read a book on engine oil that takes a more methodical approach and it could be longer for some cars.

I used 3750 miles as it was "halfway between other scheduled stuff".

My 90Q with 160k miles has never seen 3500 mile oil. I attribute that to driving an engine with the original guides.

I only use BG44k twice a year...drive about 12k a year...

Wasn't there a product that was cheaper than the BG44k that actually worked better i remember hearing about?

The recommendation to use this stuff before the oil change probably comes from some recommendations from other car lines - BMW if I remember correctly. There's some concern that traces of it can end up on the cylinder walls and then get into the oil and degrade it. Hard to say, but it's just a safer way to do it. I certainly wouldn't let that stop me from using BG44K after an oil change - weighing the risks, I'd say not using the cleaner can be more harmful to overall performance than the contamination worries. The pre-oil change idea is probably the best possible approach.
