BF2: Highway Tampa (new map)

I finally downloaded this and played it last night. It kinda sucks...

It's a huge map with 2 uncappable bases and something like 4 cappable outposts. There are a ton of vehicles to play with here; tanks, APC's, mobile AA, jeeps and even a couple boats. All outposts are connected by long stretches of exposed roadways or trails with nothing but sand dunes and palm trees in between them. You can see how this map MIGHT have been fun for anyone who loves vehicle combat, but EA ruined it by including 2 planes, one for each side.

This might not sound like a big deal unless you are familiar with how combat works on the air maps: If the person flying is really good (usually the case) you better hope he is on your side. Otherwise it is pretty much endless rape while that pilot racks up kills (73 in a slow round...). If you get a sucky pilot on your team like i did, he will probably fly around doing his best to bomb unoccupied outposts without crashing. This guy, REN dog or something like that, accumulated 13 points while hogging the jet and causing our team to be massacred by the other pilot.

You might say, "well the other pilot should be shooting down the sucky guy so someone else can get the jet, right?" WRONG. anyone with a modicum of intelligence can see that would be a bad move on his part, and the guy flying for the other team seemed pretty intelligent.

by not shooting down the obviously retarded kid flying our jet, he allowed himself the unlimited opportunity to bomb and strafe our units without any fear of being shot down.

maybe its not always like this depending on which server you play on, but we definitely got screwed by the dumb bastard that was on our team.

Ive heard bad reviews, but i still want to get it.Im stuck on a 2142 stint at the moment though....I do miss the planes in BF2, I was one of those "intelligent" pilots
