I have to order my new tires for my 1984 300ZX. It has KYB shocks, Eibach springs, Addco 1" sway bars, urethan bushings, and currently has Bridgestone RE71 which have served me well. I only drive it on sundays (and sunny days) so I need to get some new rubber.

The SO3 are 135 each from Tire Rack while the Goodrich's run 163, so they are pretty close. I want as much stick as I can get, which way to go? I was sold on the S03's and than saw the rating on the BFG were a little higher on the Tirerack site. Recommendations????

I've had both on my Q, and the Bridgestone's seemed stickier.

Shouldn't matter to you, but not good in the winter.

The KD will offer slightly more grip at first but as they wear, they will harden up very quickly. The SO-3 has a dual layer compound that has a softer layer under the top tread. By the time you get into the second half of these tires, the SO-3 is going to be much stickier. Consistancy is the key here...

thanks, I think I'm going with the SO3, I will be using these tires for a long long time since I only drive the car about 2-3k a year.

Grant, of course I'll be ordering them from Tirerack! I ordered the Yokohama ES100's from Tire rack and when I tell people that buy their tires in town what I paid for them their jaw drops!

are so2s still available? i heard on a subaru site that the s03s are not as sticky or as linear. if i was a lookin, i would check for s02s first. come to think of it, last time i checked they were at bargain prices.

I heard the S02's were the bomb but they were never made in 15" size that I knew of, not on the Tire Rack site, or I'd have gone for those.

Yup, as much as I wanted to put bigger rims on the car, I have the orgininal equipment 15" on the car and they are in great shape. I love the old stock look and at 19 years going on 20 they still balance perfectly.

Looks like S03's, wish I could have scored the SO2'S

s03s are a great tire(i hear) dont get me wrong. just not the all out performance beast that the s02 was. i would quote the guy that said that but i am lazy.

I know, they would have been my first choice, but they just do not make them in 15" size. Funny that they would have down-graded the performance from the S02 to the S03, I just feel lucky that I can get something decent for the Z in 15" anymore. Next time I buy tires I'll probably have to buy new rims.
