I have never been so thoroughly disappointed in a piece of technology in my life!! The music system in the 08M35X is beyond useless.

First: Looking for radio FM text artist info…no no…only satellite radio

Second: Looking for multidisc…no no…only single disc player

Third: Try to rip CD…no no…only rips while playing, no 2X, 3X,…16X

Fourth: Set up my iPod…no no…the ipod doesn’t charge

Fifth: Buy flash card…waste of time & money…1/ no playlist capability 2/ limit music files and amount of music in folders...just waiting to see if the same limitations are on the hard drive as well smh.

Beyond fed up! This is 2008 and the capabilities I was looking for is the absolute basic of things…MP3 players have been out since circa 2001. I wish I read the manual to see all the music deficiencies of this car, but I would never have thought it would have been like this to need the investigation…won’t happen again. I was resisting putting a computer in this car anytime soon, but now it looks like I’m forced to. I’m not even going to get in the argument and diatribe of “This car is $$,$$$$ and should have this and that feature.” Any car that begins to have the audio features this car has should not half a** it and make the features “COMPLETE” to say the least for a “luxury” car. SMDH!!

Not to say I wouldn't have bought this car anyway, but DAMN!!!

Useless  .

i can address your third issue the music player generally loads the complete cd in the time it takes to listen to 2 or 3 songs and i believe you can turn on radio if you dont want to listen for some reason the song you are recording
i am happy with my music box ,i dont use i pod etc ,but have no need for 6 disc changer when my favorite 120 cd are loaded in music box
good luck

Issue number 4 is easily fixable. And it does charge ipods...just the old gens. Scosche makes the "passport" which is an adapter that goes on the end of your factory ipod cable and then plugs into your new gen ipod/iphone and will charge it. Works great.

Like Mazz said, you can rip a cd while listening to the radio if you like, you don't have to listen to the cd while it is taking place.

I didn't know you could rip a cd in a matter of 9min (length of 3 songs). I could have sworn I read on here each rip is as long as the song. Listening to the radio while it rips isn't really the issue, the time it would take to build the library was the issue...not to mention 132kbps max. Really?!?! I can barely tolerate the fadelity of 254kbps. But whatever.
I didn't know about the Scosche, so I'll get that and go back to the ipod for now and just use the FC as a backup for when I forget my ipod.

Thanks both of you.

The thing with FM must be your station(s).

My 07 picks up FM artist info from some stations and not others. If they don't use RDS, it won't display it.

When the ªText º key is selected with the
INFINITI controller on the display and then the
ENTER button is pushed while the satellite radio
is being played, the text information will be
displayed on the screen.

Nothing about the radio. They must have removed this feature. smh. How can a model line progress and at the same time they remove simple useful features. My friend who has an earlier maxima shows the text of the same radio stations I'm listening to.

That's a possibility and I agree. Leave stuff in there, don't take it out.

In my 06 M45 the radio text shows up on the left side of the main screen in smaller print (and scrolls like it does on older radios without screens) while other text (cd, mp3, satellite, whatever) shows up on the right in bigger print. Given that it is obviously treated differently, I bet it doesn't show up on the text info screen. Have you tried cycling through the status screens to the one that shows what station it is on and/or what info is coming from MP3/SAT/whatever? If not, try that and look there, I can't imagine they removed such a simple a feature on a newer model.

That's a shame. I guess you'll stay confused because I really don't get into this type of back and forth. Good luck with that though, stay up.
