OK folks, came back from the stillen meet where I saw a fiberglass body kit up close and persona for the Altima Coupe.. no offense to anyone, but that thing looks VERY POORLY CONSTRUCTED!!!

The fit was wrong, the lines on the front bumper that continue from the fender wells was gone, and you could see ALL of the imperfections in the fiberglass... oh yeah, did I mention that it didn't fit non EITHER side where it attaches to the fenders??? VERY POORLY CONSTRUCTED KIT...

I know, I know ... Blake, if you would do the honors and post the pics you took...(my camera ran out of batteries)

As you can see, the sides where you bolt it to the fender. They are molded horribly wrong. You can't really see it in the picture but, after painting, it looks like they TRIED to pull the bumper out and bolt it up flush, but it resulted in spider web cracking and chipping.

You cant see the spider web cracks throughout the bumper due to the super fine glare prevention you would need to capture that, but to the naked eye, its noticeable. The paint is a completely different shade too. Which it indicative of a semi good painter trying to paint fiberglass. Also, the kit looks incredibly high without a drop! Is this guy using a lift kit or what?

Yeah, it's very obvious that the paint doesn't match and it cracking. It seems like something like that would be uder warranty and they would paint it again.

Hey Blake, are we still on for the intake?

i fully agree with you doc and adidas. his bodykit looks like complete sh*t. i'm sure it wasn't prep'ed and was just primed and painted right outta the box by someone who didn't know what they were doing. where the fendor meets the bumper and where the head light meets the bumper you can tell the installer lined it and mounted it at a incorrect angle causing damage to both. if anyone plans on getting a glass bodykit hit me up and i'll give you some pointers on what to do and not to do as far as prep, installation, mounting points, and so on. I did all the prep on my fm body kit yesterday (1 hour) and today i'm spraying on a lightweight truck bed liner type rubber compound to cover up the inside exposed fiberglass giving the whole thing much more strength and resiliance to spider web cracks. the only thing i'm taking it to the bodyshop for is primer and paint and will be doing the mounting myself. if this sounds like a lot of work a glass bodykit is not for you unless you have a good bodyshop that has experience with fiberglass. also, be very careful when choosing a bodyshop regardless of body material (as we've all seen) because 99% of them out there believe in the mass production type way of doing things and treat your vehicle as if it's on a assembly line. by that i mean they'll have two guys working on ten cars at the same time doing the same steps to all ten cars at the same time leaving plenty of room for error when every body job runs into different problems and should in my opinion be done from start to finish as one job by itself. hope this helps some of you when choosing a bodykit and just as importantly a bodyshop. I'll have pics of my kit properly fit and alligned soon. til then,

I think we should create an official NICO sticker horsepower chart. My ideas: racing stripes- 20 hp, Nismo decals- 25 hp, NOS sticker-50 bazillion hp!

well I dealt with fiberglass kits before. That fiberglass kit on that car was horribly prepped and painted. Fiberglass isnt that bad man. You guys makin it like ALL of the fiberglass kits are bad. I know that it'll crack easy and stuff but come on.

no sir, not at all... it may even be urethane, but def not fiberglass...

I think 08altima35's post says it all... you can not cut corners when installing fiberglass bodykits!!! The way he is doing it is the right way, but most shops won't do it the right way because of the exact reasons that he stated.

I personally am not a fan of fiberglass due to my previous experiences with fiberglass bodykits... but if anyone plans on installing the fiberglass kit from foxmarketing... CONTACT 08ALTIMA35 and ask him if he'll give you instructions on the PROPER way to prep and prime a fiberglass body kit!!!! Then print these out and talk with your local installer... it may be more work and more money in the end, but it will be worth it to get it right!

Nope, stock bumper is ABS plastic, a polymer mixture that is similar to polyurethane.

Its pretty bad. Its so incredibly difficult to make any 2 fiberglass kits the same. Even the pros who build them cant get them right most of the time. With the process of pressing, adding resin, temperatures, and humidity there are sooooo many things that can go wrong with a fiberglass kit. With urethane, after the mold is created, every piece will come out exactly the same.

polyurethane sounds great but the only kit made out of it is the stillen one and no offense but i don't like the stillen front...... actually it's not the stillen front i don't like, it's the stillen grill on the front. stillen made a grill for the sedan and said the sedan is different then the coupe but with the whole stillen front wouldn't the grill be the same? i mean, is there anyway i could get a stillen front like yours but with the sedan's mesh grill?

You could always cut away the bars to make it flush. Paint it, and install mesh behind it. I'm thinking of doing something similar to get air flow to the radiator. after I take up the bottom opening with the intercooler.

i might just do that. cuz i wanted to change the front bumper next month or something..... when do you think you're going to try and cut the bars and put mesh? i want to see how it looks like, i have the same color car as yours so looking at yours would be like exactly how mine would look lol

i have my rubber backing on and that will take 24 hours to set/cure and then it's intercooler time. my next project with the body kit is grinding the f. fascia to make room for intercooler piping which will take place sometime late next week. i'll keep yall posted and would be more than willing to do a write up (on fiberglass body kit install) if some of you are interested in the fm bodykit (start to finish) or don't have any know how on how to go about purchasing or preping and installing a glass body kit. just lemme know.all and all it's real easy and it really doesn't take any extra money (maybe 10 to 15 bucks for sand paper). it just takes time and patience and the end result as any self done mod will pay off much more than what you remember originally paying for it.

Cost effectiveness. Its way cheaper to produce fiberglass.
