Ok, this may not have anything to do with a/c's, but it's deffinetly worth reading about. I just read this on aol's homepage, its a new police tracking system called Trapster. It works by alerting you on your cell when youre on a specific road that has a cop located on it.

Trapster works like this: Go to the Web site, and sign up for a free membership. Then download the Trapster software to your cell phone or PDA. Then, you're ready to hit the road. And once you're tooling down the highway, if you spot a state trooper or city cop lying in wait with a radar gun or laser unit, you just need to punch in "#(pound) 1" on your cell phone -- or dial a toll-free number. Other users are then alerted on their cell phones or PDA when they approach the same speed trap.

My question is has anyone ever head of this, and does it really work? What do you guys think, better than buying a detector or jus some that doesn't really work? Whats your opinion??

their website is http://www.trapster.com and here's a tutorial http://www.trapster.com/presentation.php, let me know what you think!

They use satellites to clock you and take a picture of your license plate. Then they mail a bill to you.

you have to get a trunk mount patriot missle system..with early warning dectors and dual flame analyzation..itll dectect the tracking satillite and launch 4 trident missle sorties to take it out...problem is the coupe's trunk is to small for the array...and its illegal to carry that type of weapon unconcealed!

np, find some bit'ch on the street, strap her to the trunk with some tape and give her a missile launcher... the charges for that MAY POSSIBLE SLIGHTLY exceed those of the speeding ticket you would have gotten...w.e **** happens

The whole sattelite speeding ticket thing is only a myth. They haven't even cleared a patent for the system yet, much less produce it for law enforcement. Honestly, in Cali, Its very easy to break traffic laws and get away with them. Just dont be stupid about it.

The satellite theory seems ... fake. Think about it: they'd be only able to give you a "bird's eye" view of the earth, and since license plates are vertical, how are they supposed to take a picture of that from space?

Yes it does sound bogus but there are plenty of times when my wife and I go to google maps when we are looking at houses and where they are located and yes it is a "bird's eye" view but there is a button called street view. when you click on it ,.....Voila....the images that come up are of a street view as if you were standing on the street looking around. Not sure if they are using the same technology though...

The satellite thing.. I dunno, it really sounds bogus. Around here in TN though you do have to watch for pesky camera, as well as "Photo Enforced area" signs. Meaning laser is mounted to cameras and anything 10+mph over the speed limit brings you a $50 non argueable ticket in the mail, same for running red lights. The LEO's still patrol those areas regularly for traffic as well, so it IS possible to get an officer written ticket, and one in the mail for the same offense lol.

On topic, That program would work, but only if a LOT of people in your area are using it. The fault with it is, somebody has to get caught first.

Was that sarcasm???

Google streetview images are taken by a van with about 10 cameras on the roof driving down the street taking pictures. That's why it's only in metro areas right now, they have the most value in taking the time to document...

They can get you with traffic cams and helicopters to get license plates... no satellites.
