Today I went to Costo and I bought a mount-it-yourself bookcase. but when I got to the car I couldn't fit the damned thing in the damned trunk. OMG I tried for 15 minutes before giving up . So I tried putting it on the rear seats...that was quite challenging. I had to recline the passenger seat all the way flat and slide it forward and remove the headrest to slide it above the seat and finally behind.

Well today this wont ever happen again! I just shed 45lbs from the trunk by removing the black Styrofoams with the extra wheel and some useless heavy metal plate. There is SOOO much more space now lol. I can already hear my coupe breathing better.

the box wasn't even that big to begin with but it just couldn't enter at all. but now, check it out:

how about some pics of the inside of the trunk with all of that removed? I've thought about it, but mine came with the nice perfect fitting mat that says altima. I happen to like that mat, and wanna keep it back there lol

And once someone sees all that space... its hard to say... "ill leave it for storage" when a nice amp setup will tuck nicely in there!

Do you just have metal showing on the bottom now? I agree with racingtiger, some pics would be good - I'm curious to see as well, considering putting my hockey bag in is the biggest pain in the @$$ ever...

Exactly, i would love to take all that crap out, but flats happen.

Im gonna kick the idea around. Is this an upgrade worth purchasing AAA?

i always pose this comment when people put amps in place of a spare... but screw the spare man...

get AAA and free flatbed towing... once in a blue moon u get a flat

once a day you get a look from your bumpin system!

AAA is def worth the investment... the kicker is, it follows YOU, not the car...

mendi wheres the writeup? 1. open trunk2. pull everything out3. close trunk

lol the write up would seriously be1. open trunk2. pull everything out3. close trunk

but I'd add a 2.1 to remove the right Styrofoam you have to wedge it out slowly because it is stuck behind the amp. If you don't have the BOSE system then forget this. just pull it normally

Yeah, I think the few of us that have put real systems in the coupe have noted the immense amount of DEAD SPACE in the coupe taken up by those stupid styrofoam things and the metal support bracket...

***NOTE***

What mcheddadi failed to mention is that if you remove this foam and support bracket, you will have the XM tuner and Bluetooth module sticking up on the left (for prem. pack. vehicles) and the BOSE amp sticking up on the right

Those are protected from the foam originally. If I were you, and you plan to do this to your trunk, I would relocate the XM and bluetooth to the rear side pocket of the trunk (easily done) and keep some type of protective covering on the bose amp, or try to stick it down in the rear side pocket of the trunk as well.

NEXT, to keep you trunk from looking like an incomplete work of art/ mess, I would get some grey trunk carpeting, and extend the factory trunk carpeting down a bit so that the sides and corners aof the trunk aren't showing as they are in the picture above

Oh yeah, and I think the increased trunk space and $100 a year for AAA coverage are well worth it, especially since you basically get the AAA for free when you factor in Hotel stay discounts, Car rental discounts, etc that you get with AAA membership!

This question was allways posed in the 350z forums, To take out the spare and save 50 pounds or leave it for extra traction?

The majority of what i read said after removeing it, nothing felt as "balanced" and it felt like the rear had less traction.

The general thought i had was nissan purposely added the weight factor of the spare into the equation of 51/49 weight balance, and takeing it out screwed with the equation.

I know its a FWD car and i dont know the balance of weight from front to rear but i wonder if it would cause a big difference also.

50 pounds removed will make a difference, but not a noticable difference, 99% of drivers wouldnt be able to tell the difference

I gotcha, unfortunately/fortunately, my 150 lbs of stereo equipment / woofer box in the trunk both adds increased weight over stock, and lowers it a bit more with the Eibachs... feels great!!!!

Heh I took out my spare but didn't bother with the foam and crap. It leaves the general shape of the trunk alone, which I need to have my sub box fit snuggly.

I just threw a can of that fix a flat stuff in the spare tire area. It worked wonders on my motorcycle.
