I want to have a motor built to make big numbers, i want to hear some opinons on which motor has more potential with a full build. Which is more cost effective excluding the cost of the sr motor?? Can the ka head flow as good as the sr head??

Actually what i should be asking is which motor would be the better choice to take me into the 10's with supporting mods, suspension, tires ect.

it takes alot of money to get either of those engines in the 10s. if u are expecting numbers like that.. do a v8 swap.. an ls1 would be the way to go.. also use the search button at the top. it helps alot

^^^ yet another ignorant post. Searching will yield win and no flaming. Posting about stuff you've got no hands on experience with yields fail. The choice is yours.

well... personally i like the KA24DE. i am running the KA on my S14 and i love it. what i would do is, build up the KA! get some internals, and maybe a turbo. and you will see that the KA can produce BIG numbers. but that is at a price! internals are not cheap. or you could spend anywhere from 3500-5000(or more) for an engine swap(that is unless you do it yourself). and on top on that you are buying a stock motor, after the swap you still have to build up that engine. ultimately it is up to you. you want a fast car, be ready to spend some money!

probably if you're interested in just drag racing you might want to consider using an RB25det. both of these motors take the modifications and I have seen several people making 600 plus horsepower on pump gas. as long issue started out with an excellent condition low mileage motor you could start your building with a good aftermarket turbo and cams along with proper fuel management and have a very fast car.

yeah the RB25 is a really crazy engine! but it its really expensive too! you are looking at about 3500 just for the engine. unless you have the hook ups with an engine shop? and to swap it in..... forget about it!! its too expensive! but dont get me wrong! i love the RB series engines but i hthink that it would be cheaper to just fix up KA24DE!!

This is one of those cases where IMO No matter what you do, you cant go wrong. What matters is your budget IMO.

There are plenty of high power 4 bangers for folks to drool on. Another Niconaut in the RWD SR section is finishing his 950+whp beast, plenty of 1k+whp RB26's, another ghastly 700+whp rb25 that graced the cover of a major import tuning car magazine a few months back, and more than their fair share of daily 400+whp KA's rolling around on the streets.

FIGURE THESE THINGS OUT FIRST!!!1. your budget. Things get out of hand real easily real fast. Having a realistic idea of what you can actually afford will yield win and a much more satisfying build.

2. Research your other options, chances are you've already got a few things you're looking for that are going to be priorities. Doing a basic comparison between your options will usually tell you the pros and cons and let you narrow your options down to two or three choices. Then you do more homework and compare it to #1.

3. Expect delays and extra costs. It is also a good idea to have a simpler build if it's your first time doing something like this. It'll help keep your trouble shooting from quickly snowballing into a nightmare.

well you could get an rb20, its only a couple of hundred more than the s13 sr20 and its a v6, easier to support more power to stock internals, revs just as high, and comes with a wee bit bigger turbo. about 1400 off jdmenginedepot.com for transmission, ecu, motor, complete wiring harness, turbo, injectors. check it out if you want to stay a nissan fan. putting in a v8 is rediculous, that defeats pride many imports have worked hard to achieve and defeats the point of owning a 240, never the less being part of this site. my opinion is personal though. good luck

I would say go ka24de and just get forged pistons and titanium valves plus turbo no need for a swap or go sr20det. Really it don't' matter cause its your car.
