I am coming home yesterday in the lil woman's 180sx from junkyard hopping and I pull up behind an R32 GT-R at a light. This car looks tired! bald tires, old sagging muffler, broken "R" badge just really sad. Well the 180 has crazy oil leaks a slipping clutch and a lot of street has passed under the tires since Nissan built it, I figure if ever there was an R I could catch it's this one.The light goes green and he pulls away with some smoke out the muffler and when he sees me trying to get out from behind the car in front of me to catch him. He has a four car lenth lead when I wiggle out from behind the old lady and plant the Go pedal. Now here is where I am shocked, I actually start to close the gap, I am reeling in a GT-R! We have to hop on the binders for road construction and now I am right behind him. I smell blood now and I throw caution to the wind(this is my ride to work) He gets stuck behind a truck with a bus to his right, I wait two car-lengths back. I see him just about to clear the bus and I jump on it and come up fast and grab a handful of third up on his bumper threading the gap into the right lane. I am choking on black smoke a foot off his muffler as the left opens up. I dive over and start stepping up next to him, looking over the look on his face confirms it, this is all he's got. I yank into fourth and the gap widens until he just gives up. I almost felt guilty, like a young street punk beating up a twiching Mohammad Ali on a street corner.Now all guys reaching for the "reply" button to scream B.S. It happened, it was sad don't waste your time trying to start something. I pass on this little story for several reasons that it proves true;
It's funny if not a little sad, if this particular car was a horse I would shoot it out of mercy
Just because it's car"X" maens nothing. Just because there are so many fast anything doesn't mean they all are, fear no car.
Just because it's a running anything doesn't mean you can pull it off the back of a UPS truck, slam it in your 240 and rule the street. Who knows, in six months this car could be junked, in seven months the engine could be in a container bought, paid for and bound for your doorstep, get it?
