greetings,

i dont know about milage but in my expirience shell v power is the best quality gas out there. I use it in my '03 i 35 and i feel the difference in pick up and idle smoothness but now ill pay more attention to milage as well.My friend uses it in his '06 TL and never goes with anything else...

I only use 76 or Chevron and avg about 26 mpg all around. However, my biggest achievement was 33 mpg non-stop trip to LA which is about 440 miles from where I live. I was going for maximum mileage, so I mostly hovered around 65-70 and drafted trucks and cars as much as I could. On the way home, I did not draft as much and there were strong head and cross winds. I only did about 29.5 mpg on the way home.

In my experience, Shell is definitely among the best choices out there. When I can't find a Chevron station, I don't feel bad about having to "settle" for Shell. V-power has a good detergent--perhaps not as good as Techron but still good.

I find that my engine runs louder on Chevron. My friend who has an S13, S14, and a Frontier swears by it, but personal experience is personal experience.

I've been told that shell runs hotter than Chevron and Mobil, but I'm not sure where that mechanic got his info.

All the major gasoline companies "pull" of each other's terminals

For instance, if Exxon stations dominate one area of the US and a Fina station in that area needs gas, Fina will pull off of the Exxonterminal and add the Fina "supplements( i.e. tectron or whateveradditive) and wala-you have Fina gasoline.

Otherwise the oil companies would go broke having to duplicatetheir own terminals in every city.

Here in SoCal we have terminals with multiple companies. Last I saw, the one closest to us had a BP, a 76 and a few others I didn't recognize.
