Does anyone know of a company that offers a more powerful alternator for our cars. S13's specifically? I'm worried that between my electric fans, more powerful headlights, and upgraded (read 10" sub) sound system, that the stock alternator on a 102K mile motor, may not handle it. What do we all think? Thanks guys.

auto stores often sell different kinds of alternators for these cars. i think stock replacement is 80 amp, and they also offer a 90 amp. Some might even offer a 100. when i blew mine, i got a brand new one, that came with a graph (showed 100 amp output), and a 1 year warranty, for about $130 after core charge.

True, I'd say the place to check is an a good car-audio store. I seem to remember a friend of mine having one made for his car that was something like 140amp output.

Sweet, thanks guys. I wouldn't need 140amps. Not to say it wouldn't be nice :) I'll look at an auto store when I put my amps in. Thanks guys.

dont they have a battery thingy just for the sound system that it drains the power from a second battery so that it doesnt waste up as much from your real battery. and it also gets charged.

yup, called a "battery isolator"

I saw one on advance auto parts/ partsamerica online for about 30 bucks and another 20 fo' the install kit.

here's the 1st site I went to after i "googled" http://www.geocities.com/harald_nancy/isolator.htm

doesn't lowriders use this to charge up the X # of batteries to power their hydraulics?

BTW, u find the prob w/ your car, K?
