Bethesda buys ID software (makers of Wolfenstein and Doom)

This is exciting news. I have been waiting for a good Doom sequel, I know Bethesda will deliver if they chose to produce the game.

I don't know if I like this or not. I hope Bethsoft has the presence of mind to let ID do their own thing. Wonder how this affects ID's (and potentially Bethesda's) relationship with Raven software (the guys who have written a lot of games/expansions for ID under their direction).

That's HUGE, but I'm with MoD on this. Don't screw with a winning formula. I've not been let down by either the Doom or Wolf franchises.

Hopefully with the Bethesda bankroll, production values can be raised further, projects delayed less or not at all, more advertising and (something Bethesda has always been good at) more add-on/download content.

I doubt Carmack would have signed with ZeniMax if he would lose some creative direction of the projects, I expect the only difference this will make to consumers is that we get to play Id's games sooner due to the increased manpower.
