95 because your sr20 will hook up to a sniffer instead of an CU machine (OBD II) that's an immediate fail

depends on the body style you like... if you like the S14, then 97-98 look best to me, but I have a 92 FB and in my baised opinion its the best.

to actually mod would be a 91 they have the best cams, but really any 91-94 they are lighter than the 95-98. the s13's have grown on me in apperence in the past couple months, but i wouldnt be able to let go of my 95 for one.

I hate to ask such a stupid question, but why would a 95' be exempt from the new tests exactly? I'm guess it's cause of age, but is it because its 8 years old or because cars weren't built that clean until 96'?

yeah 95 they used OBD I testing, (that's the exhaust sniffer instead of a machine hooking up directly to your ECU)

with a 95 and below all you have to pass is visual and a sniffer test...with a 96+ if you have an SR u automatically fail period

i think if your always short on cash, like me;), then 89-90 model is probly best b/c you can find them dirt cheap with high mileage or a blown motor and then mod the hell out of them(motor swap, etc.) with the money left over that you would have spent on like an s14 for example......but if money isnt a factor, then its hands down to the 97-98 models, their one of the best lookin cars in thier price range IMO

And so do the 92 and early (pre scv removal) 93's. Plus the s14's put down more power then the s13's with the same 240 - 248 cams installed.

I would go for an s14b / 95-96 se. Cheaper and better looking then a s14a, gen better condition / less miles then a s13 (read less things to fix out of the box), 5 lug hubs offering a base platform offering a wide array of brakes and wheels with out needed mods, nicer interior, easier to find a r200v installed on one vs hunting for a hicas s13, and the list goes on. The s13 does have the lighter weight issue though...

Ive owned a s13 fb and a s14b. While I love my s14 I still want to get a s13 coupe as Ive never had one.

Personally, I like them all. 95-98's are really hard to come by though...in my experience. Unless I guess, you like to travel.

i have a 98 and im still not sick of the way it looks and neither are the honda kids. but i also like the 98 kouki front end better. but a 91 180SX with the chuki bumper. and i also like the 93 silvia Ks bumpers with the circle circle square headlights.
