i would imagine taking out the transmission along with the engine would make life a lot easier in the long run.

I just use grenades whenever i run into this problem.

Nah kidding, yeah pull that transmission with it. Pulling the transmission alone sucks.

Just did 2 seconds of searching for ya too,http://www.ttzd.com/tech/enginetech.html

I would probably suggest pulling the motor and transmission out together as well. From experience with doing a SR swap before, it's pretty easy to pull ou the motor and transmission together. Seeing where the transmission bolts are, it'll probably be hard to reach the bolts to get enough torque to unbolt it. Just my thoughts.

I would pull the transmission with the engine and swap the transmission on the new engine and swap it back in, that's your best bet

Please for the love of god take the transmission out with the engine. It comes out easily it's a lot easier than getting to all those bellhousing bolts right at the firewall.

Plus trying to put the engine back on the drive spline of the transmission is ridiculously hard when both are "in" the car.

I pulled a motor out last night, disconnected the exhaust manifold, trans, powersteering pump, a/c compressor, in about 2.5 hours and it started sleeting while in the middle of it in my driveway. If you are just swapping out long blocks this is the easiest way to go.
