I had my mechanic try and set my timing to 0 when he did my inspection and he said that it was at 24 degrees (one tooth off) when i move it a tooth either way (distributor) it either won't start or it runs like absolute crap. I was planning on running nitrous this sunday at the track....What should i do??

No one can help??? I know the cams are right because i set them according to the manual.....If i go one tooth forward on the distributor the car runs horribly and tries to stall...if i go one tooth in the opposite way the car turns and comes to a complete hault and sounds like the engine reverses...anyone have any idea how i can set my car to where i will be able to run my nitrous safely?

15 +/- 2 on a SOHC

20 +/- 2 on a DOHC

Set it at 18 deg. if you are running nitrous and back it off more if you sense detonation.
