if your talking about the middle bolt on the upper half that goes into the block an extension and a u-joint will work with a 1/4in drive socket.

1/4 inch drive swivel head 12 mm socket, a few long extensions and a ratchet. Done.

Oh have fun pulling the actual manifold, your not even to the hard part yet lmao. If you have the ability to pull the studs out of the head, you should do that. Makes it 1000 times easier.

and if you have abs then you really need to pull the studs out.

studs are what looks like the backside of a bolt sticking out from the head - the threaded part that the manifold slips onto, and then nuts tighten over the manifold.

see here:

except those are HEAD studs. i'm sure you get the idea.

Camshafts connected to tha... Timing chain! Timing chains connected to the.. Idler sprocket! Idler Sprockets connected to the.. Lower timing chain! Lower timing chains connected to the.. Crank shaft! Oh, and the head studs are directly under the camshafts too....

I mean, yes. You have to pull the cams. Get a FSM, follow the directions or your going to fvk stuff up.

Sounds to me like you should take it to a shop.

But good luck with it.

Sounds like somebody either got up too early or stayed up too late.

irichjohn Judgeing by the questions you are asking I would guess that you have limited experiance. Either get a good friend that has experiance to teach you or take your car to a shop. I am all for do it yourself but removeing cams and heads are not for rookies.

Guys I have been asking around about the forums for awhile about my intake manifold. I'm glad "John" asked one of my many questions however every service manual does not seem to tell me anything about these hoses running through the inside of where the 2 parts of the mani connect. Those hoses are in my way even though they are never spoken of. Excuse me if I have been a annoyance around the forum asking so many questions. Thanks for you time.

I found a leak in my intake manifold where it connects to the head so i'll be planning on changing both gaskets. Can someone shine some light on what makes the manifold so hard to take out? i wanna see what im getting myself into before i start.
